Spain in major EU crackdown to stop influx of small boat migrants in the Canary Islands

Yep, immigrants coming over in small boats. They touch down in the promised land, only the country treats them badly by sending them to Africa.

Socialists are up in arms.

How dare they do this against these immigrants?

But no, the EU, Ursula von der Lyon and the Spanish Prime Minister are agreeing with Mauritania to send immigrants coming the 900 miles to the Canary Islands to Africa.

Let that sink in, the EU strengthening borders with Mauritania. A country that will never be part of the EU, never has been, never paid a penny in, putting in borders. But the UK... well you are on your own.

  • The title was changed to Spain in major EU crackdown to stop influx of small boat migrants in the Canary Islands

yeah well... the UK left the EU to deal with everything on their own. What are you complaining about?

Just simple maths, since all migrants to the UK have to pass through Europe:

if per day 500 less migrants reach Europe and usually fifty percent of them make their way to the UK how many less migrants will reach the UK from that 'boat'?

What is your objection to this ? The EU isn't obligated to make any deals with the UK since we voted to leave.

It also has every right to make deals with Mauritania or any other country that it sees fit, as does the UK.

You can't have it both ways.

Wow, I keep getting told it's about people not borders.

Let's hope the Spanish deal with their small boats better than the Brits have- the UK has spent billions (when you count the money spent on the three barges, of which the Bibby Stockholm was the only one to actually dock) and achieved nothing.

That's not quite true: it's not actually about the small boats, it is to distract you from realising that since we abandoned freedom of movement which allowed our various industries to employ seasonal and temporary workers, our points-based- system has pushed immigration up to between 500,000 and 1 million per year (it was 1 million in last year, but 250,000 left).

What's the latest estimate-the UK population will top 70 million in 5 years' time? If the government didn't keep the public stoked up about the small boats, they might think about that.
