Vladimir Putin is raising the age limit for army officers to 70 in an attempt to increase Russia's military might, according to UK military intelligence.

If approved, the move would be the latest push by the Russian president to grow his forces as Moscow's armies continue to take heavy losses in Ukraine.

'Russia is proposing a draft legislation to raise the age of military contract personnel, including those that were recruited before June 2023, to age 65 and age 70 for officers,' a statement released by Britain's Ministry of Defence (MoD) said today.

'This would substantially raise the current age limit of 51 for non officers and would likely extend the contract length.'

He's not strengthening his military, it's proven to be much weaker than anyone anticipated.

At this point all he's doing is depleting his population and weakening the nation.

Megalomaniac Sociopath.

Russia are currently building up for a new offensive.

From their past wars I think a new thunder run to Kiev will be tried.

By the time he wins in Ukraine and makes his much heralded march across the European plain into Berlin and beyond, his entire army will be relying on zimmer frames, incontinence pants and hearing aids

Yeah, clearly by raising the age limit to 70 is a sign the war is going well for them.

Since the Soviet Era infrastructure is *collapsing and half of them have no heat or electric they have to do something to keep warm. Putty is going to land on his ass hard.

*Big shout out to MI6 who's motto is "The CIA are bumbling halfwit amateurs ".

Some of his infantry are known (even to themselves, although they are obviously unhappy about it) as "disposable troops". Their job is to act as targets so that enemy artillery can be pinpointed or to identify weak points in defences. They don't need fighting skills to fulfil their role, so men in their 60s could do it. It might be economically more effective using older people rather than youngsters.

In all wars the peasantry are used as cannon fodder, and rightfully so.

A country tries to save its most economically, technically, and scientifically important citizens, to maintain the viability of the economy. Excuse me why I just shake my delusions of grandeur. Ah, thats better. Now it makes sense for a country to use up its old equipment and older grunts first. With the first this is because you already paid for the assets. The second reduces the state pensions liability and should they come back missing parts you only need to supply disability benefits for a few years as they aren`t that far away from coffin age.

Likewise using criminals is good! You sign them up, you make sure 99.9% of them don`t come back, and you`ve saved on prison costs while eliminating a nice chunk of the criminal population. Imagine the new voters from both balancing the budget and reducing crime! You save but a mere handful and publicise them to keep up the impression for the gullible lower echelons.

Got unemployment problems? Not anymore, send the riff raff over the top. Does this make Putin a bad man? Well no, its what all countries have done throughout history. Ukraine are doing it too, I have seen the outrage stories from that country from sending people with Downs Syndrome into the meat grinder and even AIDs patients.

Do you think if a war comes with Russia it will be Tories who do the fighting? Nope, it will be the Labour and Lib Dem supporters. You send your political opponents support base to do the fighting while preserving your own loyal voters!

Yeah, that's almost as evil as when the Iranians used very young children to clear minefields for their tanks in the Iran/Iraq war.  Those sick #$%#@ even hung plastic keys around the children's neck to remind them they were going to use them to enter "paradise" :(
