Alabama hospitals on life support.

‘On life support’: Hospital officials warn dozens of rural Alabama hospitals are at risk of closing their doors

https://www.waff.com/2024/02/23/life-support-hospital-officials-warn-dozens-rural-alabama-hospitals-are-risk-closing-their-doors/?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark

I find this quote pretty chilling, and sad;

"When pressed on the specific hospitals that are most at risk, Howard would not say, and her reasoning was simple.

If people think their hospital is on the verge of closing its doors, staffers will look for other jobs."

Of course the health and welfare of the people of Alabama is foremost in the minds of their Republican Representatives.  Surely they'll act to stop this appalling situation? 🤣🤣🤣

Blaming Obama and Biden’s an action, right?

This is why,  I as a rich person I am a card carrying member of the GOP and the NRA.  So the members of Red States keep dying under our watch.  You see God loves them and wants them to come to him quickly.  You can't have that when there are hospitals, doctors and modern medicine getting in the way.  We need ZERO modern medicine in Red States, so everything is just as God and Jesus intended it, and people die and go to heaven more quickly, and I don't have to pay taxes for hospitals.

Seriously?  If the GOP are the elected reps for the region, isn't it their duty to do right by their constituents?  And if they can't shouldn't they take the blame?  It isn't all about the party leaders you know...  Obama and Biden would both love to have comprehensive healthcare for all US citizens btw.  The GOP?  Not so much.  Better you just die, rather than someone x10,000 richer than you have to fork out a little more tax.

It’s NEVER your side’s fault, you ALWAYS blame the other side, you always weaponise it long before you even consider doing something productive. Such as has been the way of politics since Ugg the Smarmy descided that Zog the pretty word maker was at fault.

BUMP.  I know damn well it is the GOP's doing, because this is what my votes are leading to.  We need fewer hospitals in poor, backwards, and incest ridden areas like Alabama.  Those suffering souls need the loving embrace of the Almighty in the Afterlife, not hospitals in this horrible place.  I also don't want my tax dollars going to hospitals for poor people when it could be keeping me, a very wealthy GOP member and NRA member very comfortable indeed.  Now, run along and die in a gutter somewhere, according to the laws of Nature and God's Will, Cletus, and stop asking me for donations.

Well, they were offered Medicare expansion, but the Repubs turned it down on moral grounds.

There are no morals in politics.

What would an anarchist have to say about the imminent hospital closures?

Yes indeed.  The idea that the Government should never spend money on poor people in Red States to keep them alive, with hospitals and modern medicine, when they are all so invested in God and their reward in the Afterlife is an utter mockery of their deep and heartfelt faith in God and Jesus.  Socialist medicine and modern health facilities are only to be available to the godless Dems, as they need to be given every opportunity to make their peace with their creator and have their souls saved by the Blood of the Lamb.  Jesus was quite clear that the lost sheep is worth far more than the rest of the flock.  God will save whoever He wants to save.  Modern medicine and science are grossly inferior to the Will of the Almighty, and no, you may not tax rich people like myself any more.  We run the GOP and the system, and if we want you to be poor, poor you will be, and poor you shall stay.

On the contrary, I am extremely happy due to the huge amount of wealth I possess.  Haven't you read the Prosperity Gospel?  I AM THE ELITE !  I AM NUMBERED AMONGST THE CHOSEN BY GOD !!!  I and my kind run the GOP, and set the agenda for the whole nation, and via the USA's global hegemony, the whole World.  Sadness is for lesser beings, not the Chosen.

On the contrary, as a card carrying member of the GOP I strongly endorse the closing of hospitals in rural Alabama.  Red Staters need to die and be with their God.  It is what their faith has been leading them to, plus I don't want to pay more tax to keep them alive.  Thus I can make ideological stool pigeons like yourself rail against the stupidity of Dem ideas which are monstrous, such as the idea that people like myself should be forced to involuntarily pay more tax to keep these Red State plebes alive with medicine and hospitals.  In fact, tell me where you live, so I can help you go to God faster too, by defunding your regional health facilities when Trump inevitably gets re-elected.

Slightly off topic but related.  I have met people (my ex-brother in law for one) that thought that a person's financial status was tied to "Blessings" from God.  Rich people were blessed and poor people were not.  I always thought it odd because he and my sister was always poor.  So his logic was to be more devout instead of actually getting skills and marketing them.  He always said, "One day my ship will come in!"  to which I would retort, "You have to go to the port first!"

But yeah, he viewed the rich as Blessed and thought that because of that, they should be granted a higher status (beyond their wealth) than regular people.

Yes, this is very typical of Red State plebes.  We have them very well thought controlled, don't you agree?  In their hearts they believe themselves to be rich people merely experiencing a momentary lapse of fortune, but rich in their faith (alone) that the Good Lord will restore them to their true financial state anon, when they please Him enough.  Honestly the Pharaohs of Egypt were not as successful in their mind control of their peasantry as we, the true Elite of the GOP in the USA today in their treatment of their underclasses.  We have so many of these creatures whom Nietzsche called  "the broken and the busted" completely unable to consider that any system than the one that keeps US in power could possibly work.  To ossify a human mind into voluntary slavery is such an act of brilliance that none dare even call it oppression.  Of course the master stroke is that we have them firmly convinced that they are free, even as they toil for a pittance that can barely keep their bones together.  I particularly love how we have carefully trained the most aggressive members of the underclasses to hold our ideas the most fervently because we have allowed them to own weapons, and they fear they will be emasculated by having them removed, such that they are now ready to murder members of their own underclass to keep US in power.  We no longer even need to pay half the poor to murder the other half; they are itching to start the holocaust of blood, fully gratis and pro bono like the most servile of interns.

Why is subsidised medicine socialist, while subsidised agriculture isn't?

You won't like the answer.  Does "weaponized cognitive dissonance" fit the bill ?  Sadly I think asking the question in the first place was a mistake GD.  It reveals the limits of your conditioning,  and that inevitably signals extra conditioning for you.  It will likely be so subtle that you will pass it off as some bad luck, even as it incrementally degrades your faith in yourself and humanity.

Blah blah blah is all I see.

I lean Republican but an not against abortions and am an atheist.

Mostly, what I have seen, is the poor self inflicted among themselves.  Smoking is super expensive and poor people should not smoke.  Satellite or cable TV is very costly and should not be purchased by poor people.  Working at a fast food restaurant should be temporary at best.  35 hours a week is not full time.  Get on with the factory down the street and have insurance, 401K and a bigger paycheck.

The former PM of Oz was a member of a prosperity gospel church.

Well, not in all countries.  What is expensive is all the health complications smoking causes.  The government taxes cigarettes to help pay for the damage they do.  You see, if people had the decency to just drop dead from smoking, that would be super-effective, but they malinger and become a burden on society.

Who TF has cable or Sattelite tv these days?  Grandparents?  Plus, they're awful.

Factories are still hiring like crazy.  If you are willing to work, you can.

Many poor folks have cable or satellite TV.

I suppose that depends on the factory and the region.  I keep forgetting that many rural factories aren't modernized and still require high labor force.

I don't really count internet service as a bad spend.  However if they (as many do), use it for mostly TV viewing, it would count.  I remember when I was poor, I did not have any of the modern conveniences that many poor people have.
