Yep, most of the time it's a Biden supporter starting these threads about Trump. Gotta vent their TDS I guess.

Well I am certainly not a Democrat or a Biden supporter and I start many threads on the subject. I enjoy these political conversations and apparently you must also because you post in all of them along with the other Trump supporters on the forum. I understand that you have a serious case of TDS - Trump Devotion Syndrome, and these threads give you a way to vent, which is very good because you should not keep those feelings pent up inside it just isn’t healthy.:P

Well, when Trump was in office. I enjoyed $2 gas/gal. $1 eggs/doz. and a growing retirement. I witnessed that in my own community.

The corporate media didn't brainwash me to think Orange Man Bad. I've said it before. Trump is a Jerk, Arrogant & Harsh.

But I liked his policies, and his mannerism never did personally affect me.

You keep saying that like it was a good thing.  The gas was $2 because oil was in the negatives because of OPEC and US oil companies were going bankrupt, eggs haven't been $1 since 1990 (When Trump wasn't president) and you are in charge of your retirement.  You can't blame others for your poor investment choices.

Oh, what a coincidence that prices started climbing on items as soon as Biden got into office. Gas $5,30 & Eggs over $4.00. And that's in my area.

BTW. a president's policies can affect the economy.

I first heard Trump may run for office in 2012 when he was running the Obama Birther Scandal. So, I did research on his background because before I vote I want to know as much about the candidates as possible. I researched his background starting in the 1960s when first went to work with his father. The reason I am so critical concerning Donald Trump is because of what i found during that research and the fact his current behavior is directly linked to his past. Racism, Dishonesty, Exaggerated sense of Entitlement and his Malignant Narcissism have always been very negative character traits throughout his entire life. This is why I am so strongly against him being the president and it’s also why I feel confident I can see him for what he really is. Last my feelings about him only intensified during Presidency, so I don’t believe my opinion will ever change.

Sounds like you want socialism where prices are determined by the government instead of a capitalist free market system where market prices determine cost.

OMG! :o Where in the world was there $2 gas? It was barely ever below $3 where I live and I live in a poor Southern state. And a dozen eggs were either $1.50 or more depending on which store I shop in. I would really like to know. Oh and rent went to up $500 to $700 during the last two years Trump was in office.

Well when I filled up my car for the last time in Texas before I headed for Oregon, gas was $.23 cents a gallon.  Gas cost 10x more under Trump. Eggs cost $.45 a dozen and bacon was $.68 a pound. when I left Texas in 1971.  Both cost at least 5x more under Trump.  A barrel of US crude oil was going for less than $7 a barrel.   Under Trump, it was over $70. What the heck did Trump do to our economy?

Biden has made his share of racist remarks even when he was senator. Did you hear the one "You Ain't Black" when he was running for president?

Or calling black schools a Racial Jungle. Of course, the corporate media fails to report a democrat's words to keep their viewers ignorant and focus on Trump.

I was paying around $2,20 when Trump was in office. Some states were below $2 due to a lower state gas tax.

Do you live in CA. They had the highest gas even when Trump was in office. Above the national average.

No way. Not California. No one could pay me enough to live there.

Um let's just say I live in one of the many Southern states below Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee. I think they call it the bible belt region. :D But anyway, gas was $2.89 a gallon at one gas station where I live and that gas would always have lots of water in it.

Just a little reminder of other things besides gas prices.

Pandemic Disrupted Historical Mortality Patterns, Caused Largest Jump in Deaths in 100 Years

March 24, 2022
Written by:
Shannon Sabo and Sandra Johnson

Deaths in the United States increased by 19% between 2019 and 2020 following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 — the largest spike in mortality in 100 years.

And deaths remained elevated in 2021 as the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic continued, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s July 1, 2021, population estimates.

County-level estimates were released today and national estimates in December.

Prior to the pandemic, mortality patterns were predictable. Deaths had been increasing slowly but steadily. Additionally, mortality followed a seasonal trend, peaking in the winter months.

Please don't think I am blaming Trump for causing covid.  I know he did not.  His initial response though was to hide our eyes, ignore it and tell people it will go away by itself.. I think that part could have been better.

Every President, from Washington to Biden has had to deal with what was happening in the world while they were president.  No president has controlled the weather, plagues, international wars, and depressions.  They play the hand they are dealt and do the best they can. Comparing gas prices of pandemic deaths between presidents is like fantasy football, not real life. IMO.

The annual increase in deaths in 2020 was the largest in 100 years.

Over the past two years, COVID-19 has disrupted these patterns and it is unclear when or if the regularities of pre-pandemic mortality will return.

So you admit the story is a media beat up, a non-issue? Seriously, you need only read through this thread to find salty meltdowns

I am well aware Biden what Biden has done and some of off color comments are terrible. However, when it comes to racism in the last 50 years no US President can hold a candle to Trumps racist agenda. I would suggest you do like I have research him from the 1960s to-date because I think you may be very surprised what you find.

Oh, so you from LA - Lower Alabama, :P that explains everything, I grew up in St. Charles, Missouri which is located on the Missouri River, approximately 30 miles from St. Louis. It’s a small country town, I have very fine memories of my childhood and teenage years. How, is Arkansas these days?:D

Trump’s Comments About ‘Cutting’ Entitlements in Context

President Joe Biden said he has caught former President Donald Trump admitting that he wants to cut Social Security and Medicare. The Trump campaign said, in context, Trump was talking about cutting waste and fraud in those programs – not benefits.

Trump's Comments About 'Cutting' Entitlements in Context - FactCheck.org

I guess this is going to be the same as the "fine people" BS. Especially with people repeating it as the truth without knowing what they are talking about. I can see them in the Oval Office having a drink together and Trump whispering to Biden "don't tell anybody but I'm going to stop Social Security and Medicare."

Hey, @Michelle, you should probably read through the Trump quote.

Trump specifically stated he wanted to cut the entitlements (as Biden correctly called him out for) and cut waste and fraud.

Trump quote:

Quote

So first of all, there is a lot you can do in terms of entitlements in terms of cutting and in terms of also the theft and the bad management of entitlements

The salient point is the "and in terms of also".

Turns out Biden wasn't lying. Your own link illustrates that.

You probably aren't lying either, you're just misinformed, as usual. I'm happy to help educate you, as usual.

But, I'd ask you to quit calling people liars. You don't seem to be in possession of accurate information at most points, and are sadly unable to analyze these things for yourself.

Honestly I don't really know. We haven't been to that state for a long time, but your presumptions of which Southern state I live in is not too far away from that state. ;) I think the state I live in is terrible, but I noticed other people on UM live in this same state and I don't want to get into arguments over it and that is all I will say. Besides I do that anyway on local state forums and that is enough for me. I hope you understand?

Not that high in my area. Gas is around $3.40 and eggs are $1.49 and I buy jumbo. Other things have been going up over time. Not just Biden either.
