+and-then Posted March 27 #2 Share Posted March 27 This is the kind of stuff my group of friends talked about when we were smoking weed. Of course, we weren't nearly as focused or intelligent in our musings

+joc Posted March 28 #4 Share Posted March 28 (edited) This particular video is just confirmation of what a lot of us have known for a long time. I.e. We don't experience the 'present'. By the time our brain receives and articulates the incoming data from our senses...actual reality has changed. We have a sense that our senses are giving us real time information...but in reality...the reality that actually is, actually is something else once we perceive the information. On a more Cosmic level...The Earth, and everything on it, and everything around it is travelling at approximately 18 miles per second. Want to go to a town 10 miles away from where you are? You can go there and come back in 1 second...if we could travel as fast as the Earth is travelling. The perception is that we are sitting in our living rooms and nothing is moving. But that isn't reality. The closest thing we can get to experiencing reality is a perception that our brain creates as the data comes in from our senses. My reality right now is that I am typing my thoughts. And I am proof reading my sentences as I type them. But when I go back to read what I am about to post...I will undoubtedly find errors that my brain missed in my proof reading. Your reality is that your are reading what I posted. But my reality is something else and I have no idea what that might be. So, if you experience ghosts, or paranormal activity...that isn't reality. It cannot be. Because the actual reality of the moment you think you experienced is already gone ... forever. Only the memory remains, and when we remember what we experienced, we remember it differently than what we actually experienced. And every time we remember details, our brain has already changed those details and a new memory is what we are perceiving. Which is why we cannot really know that what we are perceiving of what we remember was ever actually reality. Edit: what I typed: Your reality is that your are reading what I posted. Upon proof reading after I posted, what I thought I typed was, Your reality is that you are reading what I posted. Edited March 28 by joc

Sorry joc that's the worst argument for the paranormal not being real I've ever heard 🤣.

If you believe the paranormal is real then all sensory perception will seek to validate that belief. Even if there is nothing. If you think enough about a red car, you'll start noticing them more and more. Same applies to seeing 11:11 on the clock consistently. I suppose joc got one thing wrong. We don't live in the now, we live in the past since we never truly perceive the now.

We don't live in the now, we live in the past since we never truly perceive the now. That is true in a sense actually. Although the past doesn't actually exist...our entire perception of reality is of the past...so, I guess that's a good way to put it...we live in the past. Now is actually the Constant Change that we can never really experience. Our reality is only a facsimile thereof...and because my brain is different from your brain...my perception is different from your perception...different from everyone else who is looking up at the sky and seeing the same exact thing. Just like we all look at the clouds and I say, Do you see the elephant? And you say, I don't see an elephant, I see a panda bear. That is exactly why the Rorschach Test is so very telling. If one's thoughts are about guns for instance, you will see that the ink blots look like guns. I had a thing with 4's for several years. Two fours, three fours, four fours. Always on license plates, addresses I saw on mailboxes. Once you focus on something and attach importance to it...it becomes more important in your own brain. And so it will be everywhere you look. The paranormal is no different. Ghosts are no different. And that is why Voodoo works...if you ever attach to your mind in the form of a belief that Voodoo is real...it becomes real. We should keep that in mind when we are talking to strangers. Be careful what you say. You don't really know who you are talking to.
