9 things to know about RFK Jr., the controversial conspiracy theorist running for president

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an environmental lawyer who has promoted baseless public-health conspiracy theories and anti-vaccine misinformation, is running for president. Despite his fringe views, Kennedy's lineage as a member of one of America's most prominent political families has helped boost his bizarre claims about vaccines, COVID-19, and other public health issues. Kennedy is the son of Robert F. Kennedy, a US senator who was assassinated in 1968, and Ethel Kennedy, a human-rights advocate who received a Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2014. He is the third of the couple's 11 children, according to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.

Kennedy has long espoused anti-vaccine views, suggesting a flu vaccine may have caused his voice disorder (he has spasmodic dysphonia, a rare neurological disorder). But he rose to prominence during the pandemic for his opposition to COVID-19 vaccines, Time reported. In a 2022 speech opposing vaccination mandates, Kennedy said, "Even in Hitler's Germany you could cross the Alps into Switzerland, you could hide in an attic like Anne Frank did." He subsequently apologized for invoking the Holocaust, Reuters reported. In a statement to The Post, the Anti-Defamation League called Kennedy's remarks "deeply offensive," saying they feed into the "sinophobic and antisemitic conspiracy theories about COVID-19 that we have seen evolve over the last three years."

And it that's not enough, he opposed ceasefire between Israel and Palestine.

War mongering as well as brain dead.

Astounding Kennedy even has a job let alone running for president.

Quote

IAt a press event held at a New York City restaurant in July, Kennedy told the crowd that COVID-19 may have been "ethnically targeted" to attack certain groups of people, The New York Post reported.

"COVID-19 is targeted to attack Caucasians and Black people," he said. "The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese."

"We don't know whether it was deliberately targeted or not, but there are papers out there that show the racial and ethnic differential and impact," he continued.

Oh good lord! I had no idea he said things like this. This man is an instigator.

The only reason our current president or most US politicians back a cease fire is because they are lying.  To quote Biden "If Israel didn't exist, we would have to invent it."  Do you think he would say that about Gaza?  Pretty sure they actually wish it was 1942 when Gaza could have been bombed flat in a couple of days and nobody would have said a word.

The US voted for the ceasefire and then declared that the resolution was non-binding.

It made no sense at all. Real head scratcher.

You can believe its lie if you want. Guam had to be invented didn't it?

What's happening is the current administration are backing a cease fire. Kennedy is pushing to elevate the war.

Maybe take note of what's actually happening as opposed to what's not??

I was surprised to see in a poll the other day that Trump beat Biden by a certain amount, but when adding Kennedy into a now 3 horse race, Trump increased his winning edge over Biden.

Go figure! I think a lot of folks think that Robert is a democrat just like all his siblings, uncles, cousins etc., so more dems went for him then did the repubs.

Kennedy is a crazy conspiracy nutter.

So there's no doubt he would be more popular at Maga than with democrats. They are conspiracy gluttons.

And yet wouldn't back it in the UN.  Watch what they do rather than listen to what they say.  What they do is back Israel and give a little lip service to a cease fire.

Isn't that because Israel is actually talking and to an extent cooperating? Whilst hamas continue to hold hostages they continue to provoke an unwinnable war. Why do you suppose hamas are trying to commit military suicide and take their people with them? They knew this would happen. Like Isis they are using civilians as human shields. Those ethics lost the war for America in Afghanistan. Israel is cutting straight through human shields to get at the disease. Perhaps America taught them how to win a war against terrorists with no value on life?

You are preaching to the choir.  Just pointing out the US government is actually fine with Israel doing whatever it needs to do to end Hamas.  The US is not hard lining a cease fire.

Cancer isn't removed slowly over time...

It must be removed completely or it just starts right back destroying more healthy cells.

There's is a type of "mind cancer"...

I think most people understand that Hamas needs to end. That's just a humanitarian action. But considering the support for Gazan people with food drops and constant pushes for safe exit passages don't indicate a genocidal administration.

With Hamas determined to die on their feet, you can't stop what's going on any more than you could have put blanks in Cobain's shotgun.

Indeed, it's just that a lot of good tissue will get excised in the process. It's just how things are.

Personally I feel it's not anyone's war but Hamas and Israel. I don't think we should all be getting involved.

This is what US congressman Tim Walberg suggested. It's obvious what they really want to be done differently.

I'm not religious at all either.

I understand that. I'd say Hamas is just the tip of the iceberg. IS, ISIS, Taliban, hezbollah, any theocracy deploying Shariah etc. They all violate basic human rights.

The problem being more kids are getting killed than enemy. Just to make it even more difficult, some Gazans are brainwashed into supporting Hamas. So it's really hard to do the right thing without doing the wrong thing.

I'm just glad I don't have to make those calls.

@psyche101 Maybe I should start a thread.  Read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eldon_Hoke#Kurt_Cobain_death_claim

I personally knew this guy and some of the other people I will not name because it would just sound like bragging, and he told me all about this one night.  About a week later they found him decapitated on a train track.  true story.

I'll think about it.  This guy was a total nut and told a lot of stories.  My favorite memory of him, I was talking with him sitting at a bar and this big fat woman sat next to us and he said he really liked her dress.  10 minutes later they came out of the ladies room each wearing the others clothes
