Grim Reaper 6 Posted April 10 #1 Share Posted April 10 Republican lawmakers' reactions to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (R-Ga.) latest screed against House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) on Tuesday ranged from exasperation to outright hostility. Why it matters: The antagonistic responses offers a glimpse at the internal headwinds pushing back against Greene as she threatens to force a vote to remove Johnson as speaker. Even members of the right-wing Freedom Caucus, many of whom share Greene's frustrations with Johnson, either brushed off or side-stepped her attempts to build support for her crusade. Accusations from colleagues that she is just trying to grab attention, Greene said: "If I had wanted attention ... I would've been on the bandwagon to oust Kevin McCarthy. I wasn't a part of that. I support my conference. +DieChecker Posted April 13 #8 Share Posted April 13 Trump backs up Johnson. https://www.axios.com/2024/04/12/trump-mike-johnson-marjorie-taylor-greene-mar-a-lago Quote Former President Trump offered much-needed praise Friday for House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) as he faces threats to his gavel from his conference's far-right flank. Why it matters: Trump's assurance that he stands "by the speaker" came as conservative firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) has ratcheted up her attacks on Johnson in the latest display of GOP congressional dysfunction. Greene will never get it passed now. Not using Republican votes anywsy. The Orange One has spoken. 😄 Dems could still side with her, but i think most of them wont. Johnson has tried to be as sane as he can with what he has to work with.
