Unfortunately at this point in time it’s unlikely we will ever know for certain. But It’s a fascinating subject and a legitimate  archaeological mystery.  I’ve heard several thought provoking theories through the years.

Okay that's a well presented explanation, and of course as already mentioned, we'll probably never get to know the truth, but it's always interesting to see new ideas.

A question I'll ask, and it applies to just about all models presented, is that it shows a fully completed Grand Gallery, so, does this still work in stages as the GG is built into the pyramid. If it does, at what point in the construction does it become viable, for instance does it need the GG to have been built to a certain point, say, for the sake of argument, 20 ft from it's base. Does this "landing stage" need to be built and then taken down in succesive stages until the GG is fully built. Then, why, if used primarily for the transport of blocks, and I do think it did have a function in this, does it start from where it does and end where it does, why not higher. I ask that because to me it does not make sense for it to only exist where it does within the Pyramid if it's sole object was lifting blocks, it seems that there is also a "ritual" aspect that may overide it's use as a "conveyor belt" for stone blocks.

The presented project concerns the delivery of rock blocks to the highest levels of the pyramid after building ramps adapted for this purpose, including a grand gallery. Rock blocks are delivered from the base of the pyramid and even from the Nile level. The drawing shows hypothetical ramps. The blocks reach the Grand Gallery from the ramps below the Grand Gallery. The blocks are moved on an inclined ramp, then horizontally to the next ramp up to the destination. I assume that the last 30 m of the Pyramid were built using the same method as the later 30 m high piramids. https://www.fotosik.pl/zdjecie/5876364cd4fd9223
