I am actually surprised that Jordan is also shooting down Iranian drones

Yeah I know. Big call from the King. Whether his people will see it the same way as him is another matter. Jordan has a majority Palestinian population.

Live updates: Iran says drone attack on Israel 'concludes' its response to consulate strike

Doesn't look like Iran actually wanted to hit anything serious and publicly announcing a 'response' doesn't make much sense strategically.

Iran and Israel have no real interest in going to direct, open war.

That’s what I was thinking, I suppose we will have to see what happens.

Cruise missiles and ballistic missiles were fired by Iran towards Israel.  No reports of them hitting anything but there are pictures of the remains of ballistic missiles and cruise missiles making it online along with videos of the launches

Remains of what seems to be an Iranian ballistic missile in Jordan

Jordan opened its airspace after saying it wouldn’t.

They closed it to all incoming, departing and transit aircraft and it's still closed to such aircraft.

Looks to be a face saving deal. Let’s see if Israel takes it on the chin, after all, they did attack the Iranian embassy in Syria. Who knows

Apparently an Israeli 10 year boy is reported to have been injured by debris from a shot down drone

I know that but this also makes them a target of Iran.

They know they have US and UK support. I can't find anything online but it doesn't sound like much at all got through to Israel. I know Jordan has what the British would call a dowager Queen. Queen Noor. American by birth. I know she's still living but I don't know if she still has influence. Jordan did join in to help.

Two Iranian missiles, seem to be cruise missiles, impacting in the Negev desert in southern Israel.  Despite what that tweet says there is no evidence that the base was hit let alone destroyed, even then two missiles are unlikely to destroy an entire base.

True, but I think Iran's interests will be hit hard when Israel starts sending boots on the ground in Lebanon against Hizbollah.  Probably after they finish cleaning up Hamas.

Apparently a 10 year old boy was hit from debris from a destroyed drone. Outside of that I have not heard of any drones striking the ground in Israel. I don’t know anything about the Queen.

Isn't the King married to a British?

Very cryptic but since when has war and geopolitics not been about politics?

Besides from hundreds of drones I'm hearing that Iran launched approximately 80 missiles in the first barrage and as of a few minutes ago launched a second barrage of approximately 70 missiles.

Queen Noor became a dowager Queen when her husband died around 20 years ago. One of her sons had been named the Crown Prince. It's very possible the King now is married to a Brit. Jordan isn't NATO but they have good relations with the NATO countries.

Yep. She's British.

Jordan–United Kingdom relations - Wikipedia

Jordan is closer to the United Kingdom than any other Arab nation, and seeks to remain so in the post-Brexit world.[18]

King Hussein himself married Antoinette Gardiner,[19] a British woman who later gave birth to Abdullah II of Jordan. As a result, Abdullah II has British descent through his mother.

It didn't end well for Israel last time, not sure why would you expect a different outcome now?

Unless Russia and China come to Iran's aid they are looking down the barrel of horrendous devastation IMO.  Lots of deaths on both sides if it blows out in a full scale war.

Somehow, I doubt it though.  Russia won't risk WWIII and neither will China.  The only fool that might stick his beak in it could be the pr...k in North Korea.

I seriously doubt that North Korea will get involved, it’s not in their nature to join into conflicts.

Either that or Israel is trying to build international legitimacy for a large-scale military strike on Iran. Maybe this was the goal all along.

A senior Israeli official is promising an unprecedented response to tonight's Iranian attack on Israel, from what I'm hearing he has urged Israelis to not go to bed so they can see what will happen to Tehran.

Iran is not only attacking Israel tonight, they are also attacking the Kurdistan Region of Iraq - several rockets have hit Erbil - and Erbil's Christian district Ankawa (where the US consulate is located). It’s safe to assume Northern Iraq is directing U.S. and Israeli operations against Iran
