Beautiful day today.

Sunny and mid 70'2 all day.   Played a bit of soccer (well, kicked the ball while my puppy chased it.   The chickens also chased it).  It was pretty funny.

I did charge the battery and changed the oil in my lawnmower.  Maybe mow tomorrow.

They actually all will be soon, only gas mowers around anywhere I've been recently are old stock...

Myles may have meant charge the battery on his gas riding mower though.

Strange bright object here in the sky over Portland.   Turns out it is the sun.  Don't see it too much this time of year.

I went to electric.  It's been so wet here the past couple years that the wet grass just keeps clogging the chute.  The Ryobi on the mulch setting...I can mow the lawn in pouring down rain.

Thats cool, I have never used an electric lawnmower, also though they would not have power, but obviously I was very wrong!

Yea, the Pacific Northwest is known for its liquid sun shine. But, even with that said I miss very much!

Peace

Electric movers make sense, I imagine they are easier to maintain and much cheaper to run!

Peace

It's not the power, it's the fact that it doesn't stall out when it gets clogged.  You can just lift the deck and let the wet grass shoot out, and it keeps running.  You don't have to stop and restart it.  Climate change has really wrecked NEPA.  We get these crazy rain patterns where it's like 3 days dry, then 2" of rain, consistently.  The water table has risen so much, half of the week my yard is like a pond.  I have lived in this house for 15 years, and it's only been an issue the past 3.  When I mow my lawn, it's wet.  Every time.

That sounds like a great feature being able to just lift the deck and allow the wet grass shoot out! It sounds like you are experiencing so serious climate change because that is a lot of water. Has all the water had any negative impacts on the foundation of your home?

I see so gas movers still have more power than electric.

My home is quite old, but the foundation is very good.  The water mainly pools in the middle of the yard, and it is sloped away from the foundation.  Both of my neighbors need sump pumps, but I don't, so I'm pretty lucky in that respect.  I get some moisture, but not even enough for the French drain to to be utilized.

Sounds like your yard was graded properly, do you have a basement?

Yup, unfinished.  Again, my house is old, and it's a coal mining town, so it's actually pretty cool.  There is a shower in the basement because the miners would come home and not be allowed to go in to the house until they showered.  The house was completely refinished before I bought it, but that's still there.

Well, it’s great that your foundation is good and your basement is dry I hope it stays that way. Sounds like you have a cool old house when was built?

I hate mowing the lawn.  I don't even like grass that much.  So I finally found a trend I could get behind.  I planted the biggest section in shrubs  that can be ignored and wildflowers that the bees and I like.  I have two small sections of grass left , and so I went the other way and traded in for an electric.  I think a battery powered one is so easy for small sections.  Another use is mulching leaves.  A few passes make for a lot less raking.

Kudzu and cockroaches - the post apocalyptic survivors. :D

Absolutely,if for smaller properties I'd have one myself...they are more convenient.

Byproduct of the railroads around here...

Be nice if the ass wipes would take care of the problem of their own making though.

No, it is gas.  The battery is to start it.   It is a 62" zero turn Bobcat mower.  Had a buddy who let me know that the Bobcat warehouse had a fire and they were selling the mowers cheap.  Got it brand new a couple years ago for $1000.

I got a post card from Tacoma:  it was solid gray.  When you rotated it, the sides said:  spring in Tacoma, Summer in Tacoma, fall in Tacoma and winter in Tacoma.
