In our newly published results of the first clinical trial combining drug sensitivity testing with DNA testing to identify effective treatments in children with cancer, an approach called functional precision medicine, we found this approach can help match patients with more FDA-approved treatment options and significantly improve outcomes.

A family member worked on a similar project but it was using scanners to detect changes in tumors after the start of treatment.

Previously it could take several months to see changes with a scanner and whether a drug had any effect. New software he developed brought that down to a few days. The system was so accurate the original drugs could be pulled and another option used. Saving months of ineffective treatment.

This was 10ish years ago and should be in general use but more especially for brain tumors ?
