Rwanda plan defeated again

The govt is trying to force through parliament the 'Rwanda Bill'. Its main tenants are: even though Rwanda is not a safe country for asylum seekers, the UK Government will declare it is. And the UK Parliament, UK courts and international courts will not be allowed to challenge the UK Government on their decision. Not surprisingly, this Bill will never be passed as it is fantasy: you can't say something illegal is legal, and when challenged try to abolish the law that says it is illegal. How low this govt has brought the UK.

New defeats for the government's Rwanda bill in the House of Lords have set up a parliamentary showdown on Wednesday - forcing MPs to consider changes to Rishi Sunak's stop the boats plan.

Downing Street wants to get the bill - which declares Rwanda a safe country and stops appeals from asylum seekers being sent there on safety grounds - on the statute books this week.

On Monday, the House of Commons stripped seven amendments from the bill previously imposed by the Lords. It was then debated again today.

Strange how your beloved EUrinal don't seem to have a problem with refugees and asyIum seekers being sent to Rwanda, because they have been funding such a scheme since 2019, but let me guess, you don't have a problem with that do you pellinore. 🤔

From the 'United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees' (UNHCR) website, dated 5th November 2021.

Quote: "The AU and UNHCR are grateful to the international community for the resources provided so far to implement the agreement and help these vulnerable people, including from the European Union Trust Fund and other EU member states contributions." 👇👇👇👇
