How the mighty have fallen. And few deserve it more.

LONDON — Peter Murrell, the husband of former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and ex-chief executive of the Scottish National Party, has been charged by police in connection with a years-long investigation into the governing party’s finances.

Hard to see how Nicola new nothing of the financial situation and is an accomplice.

Even wiping her whatsapp cannot cover all situations.

Still, with independence lost, at least the SNP did not have access to north sea oil revenue, just money from Westminster and the the Scottish Government's block grant. 😉

If only the SNP could come up with a good idea.

Apparently not.-

Scottish government abandons flagship climate goal.

The move is a significant climbdown from a government which was one of the first in the world to declare a climate emergency. It comes on the back of a damning report last month from the government’s independent climate advisors — the Climate Change Committee (CCC) — which warned that the region’s 2030 target was “no longer credible.”

Peter Murrell: What might happen next in the SNP embezzlement probe?

The force said that, in due course, they will send what is called a standard prosecution report (SPR) to the procurator fiscal, Scotland's prosecution service.

Just because someone is charged by the police it does not automatically mean there will be a prosecution.

That is for the Crown Office and Prosecution Service (COPFS) to decide.

Once they have the SPR, the procurator fiscal will then consider if there is sufficient evidence to prove a crime has been committed - and that the accused is the person responsible for that crime.

They will also decide whether it is in the public interest to prosecute.

Lock them both up!

There is no way one did it without the other knowing.

  • 1 month later...

Detectives have sent a report to Scotland's prosecution service in relation to Peter Murrell after the former SNP chief executive was charged with embezzling party funds.

The force said in a statement it had submitted a "standard prosecution report" to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS).

Police Scotland added: "Investigations continue and we are unable to comment further."
