L.A.T.1961 Posted April 25 #1 Share Posted April 25 As brexit disappears in the rear view mirror Germany wants a special UK deal on arms cooperation. The previous view on bi lateral deals by EU nations with the UK was they were 'verboten'. The EU members were warned, by the likes of Jean-Claude Juncker, that they had to stand together against the UK doing individual deals. This approach is now dead. "On Wednesday, Sunak and Scholz announced a number of measures to strengthen security collaboration. They underlined the need to integrate Britain closely into European efforts, moving past recent hiccups in the bilateral relationship. “We’ve committed to delivering a new framework for our cooperation on defense, and we’re delivering an immediate expansion of our industrial cooperation,” Rishi Sunak told reporters on Wednesday. Most notably, the leaders agreed to launch a joint program to develop new remote-controlled howitzer artillery systems, as the British government announced the day before. https://www.euractiv.com/section/global-europe/news/germany-uk-look-past-tensions-to-strengthen-post-brexit-defence-collaboration/ 1
Unusual Tournament Posted April 25 #2 Share Posted April 25 Something strange about the ministry of defence when they order 14 Swedish Archer 155mm artillery units 12 months ago and then order the RCH-155 (a better system).
