pellinore Posted April 29 #1 Share Posted April 29 (edited) PIP was introduced in 2013 to replace Disability Living Allowance for people of working age to help with extra living costs caused by long-term disabilities or ill health. The most recent statistics, external say more than 3.3 million people in Britain receive PIP to help with the extra cost of living with a health condition or disability. Some claimants are of retirement age but are eligible because they received support when they were of working age. The cash can be used for things like special diets, additional laundry, accessible transport and higher insurance costs. The government has said spending on PIP was expected to grow by 52% from 2023/24 to £32.8bn by 2027/28. The number of monthly new claimants in England and Wales, where the main condition was anxiety and depression, has soared from an average of 2,200 a month in 2019 to 5,300 a month last year. pellinore Posted April 29 Author #2 Share Posted April 29 (edited) An interesting Mail article about someone who is enjoying not working: A woman has revealed the six physical changes that have happened to her body since she stopped working. Jenna, from Durham, was signed off from work long-term and now lives on disability benefits after working and paying taxes for 26 years. Jenna said the first thing she noticed quickly was that she would wake up feeling refreshed from sleep. She has lost one and a half stone in weight. 'I think this is a few things. I think now that I am now getting rest from sleep I don't feel like I need to eat to get my energy. 'I also think that because my stress levels have gone down, I am no longer in crisis mode, survival mode.' She said that because her mental health is in a 'better place' she is not comfort or binge eating. I was signed off work and now live on disability benefit - these are the 6 changes I have noticed in my body (msn.com) Edited April 29 by pellinore

My own nephew plays that game so I know all about it. Never understood why people even play that game...once you are declared "mental" by the government, you are basically a worthless sheep to be given a monthly check. Had a friend in high school who played that stupid s***,I reckon his parents put him up to it as a kid...last I heard,he's been in prison most of the past 20 odd years. 2
