Thanks but no thanks — especially given how Yemen authorities have been increasingly restricting women's freedom of movement impacting their access to healthcare, employment and EDUCATION. It's one of the worst places to be a woman.

A whole lot of their beliefs and demands aren't going to fly over there.

Nope. Their protests at Columbia and elsewhere would be their last.

Unless they become totally indoctrinated.

Yesterday I saw a brief clip of an interview given by two survivors at Kent State. Of course today I can't find it anywhere online. They said two things. When you chose to protest, there are consequences. And know what you are protesting about. Sounds like good advise.

I would recommend that those families send their kids to school somewhere else next year.  That might get the message through to the administration.

Doug

Fools are easily manipulated anywhere. Why call them fools? They are easily overwhelmed. intellectually, by the most basic propaganda techniques, especially that of self-hypnosis by group chanting, submerging their individuality in an orgy of self-flagellation. Look at the damage they did to the places they occupied, the willful property crimes they committed.

We shall reach our goal, when we have the power to laugh as we destroy, as we smash, whatever was sacred to us as tradition, as education, and as human affection.

Especially when you throw bricks at men with guns.

Doug has never answered my question about why the Guard was called out to Kent State in the first place. Totally avoided it. It's easily searched. Go to the timeline. There's tons of other links.

Kent State has a full archive online. There are films along with news reels of the campus before and after the shootings. Here's how you can access it. Some show students on the ground and may be considered too graphic. If you go into the University's main menu you can also access the memorial that is on the campus.

Protesters were more prone to be violent, back then.

They get pretty violent now too. Nothing like Kent has happened here yet but it sure has happened in recent protests.

Compared to then, they're creampuffs. Outsiders outnumbered students, then, in campus protests. here is some information.

Report: Anti-Israel campus protesters were prepped for months by outside activists

Students protesting against Israel at elite universities in the United States prepared for months with veteran activists before the recent flare-up of campus tensions over Israel’s ongoing war with Hamas in Gaza, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

According to the Journal’s report, activists at Columbia University — whose encampment launched the anti-Israel activities on other campuses — had “for weeks and months” consulted with and received training from outside groups, including the National Students for Justice in Palestine, whose Columbia chapter was suspended by the university administration early in the war.

Love that whoever put this together is so clueless they included Townshend's book.

Obviously opening it or googling it was too much trouble.

Or it undermined the point they were trying to make of course.

How kind of you to only notice the book. I don't have a problem with google.

Police clash with protesters at University of Virginia; demonstrations intrude on graduations

Police in riot gear have dispersed anti-Israel protesters from an area of the University of Virginia campus where a small group had set up an encampment, sparking clashes between a large crowd of students and state police, local media report.

Footage shared online shows law enforcement spraying chemical irritants and pushing a large crowd, many of them with linked hands, off of university grounds as protesters chant “shame on you.”

Columbia President addresses campus protests in statement: 'they were largely peaceful'

Columbia University President Minouche Shafik issued a statement on Friday in response to the campus protests that have proliferated across her university for weeks, referring to them as “among the most difficult in Columbia’s history.”

She said the “turmoil and tension, division and disruption have impacted the entire community” and expressed sympathy with the students, who she claimed paid “an especially high price.”

Here's the latest as to what Pennsylvania's Governor has to say.

Gov. Shapiro addresses protests on college campuses (yahoo.com)

“My administration has been in close contact with universities here in PA both reminding them of their responsibilities under state law and federal law to keep their students safe and free from discrimination and making sure that the rules of the local community and the rules of the commonwealth of PA are adhered to every step of the way,” Governor Shapiro explained.

He says there should be a place for peaceful protests, but what we are seeing in some cases are people using it as an excuse to engage in antisemitism.
