+susieice Posted May 2 Author #104 Share Posted May 2 (edited) I guess they did manage to remove the barricades at UCLA. Before I went to sleep the live links I posted showed hundreds and hundreds of police vehicles, including armored trucks, staging in areas in Los Angeles. The protesters were barricaded in the encampment. Hundreds were arrested. They cleared the library at Portland State. Rutgers has postponed it's exams. Biden is expected to speak soon. +susieice Posted May 2 Author #106 Share Posted May 2 (edited) Biden didn't say much. He only talked for about 2-3 minutes. He said violent protest isn't protected by the first amendment but nothing more about what's happening. Edited May 2 by susieice

The other might be that we don't need the the federal government to control every aspect of our daily lives. First, universities had better handle their students and call on local authorities if they need help. State and local authorities are not powerless, so first choice would be for local authorities to handle issues within their jurisdiction. I am so sick of big government being the solution for all our problems. Now I am not saying that you have ever said it is, but I am adding my own opinion. If these were peaceful protests so was J6 which did a lot less damage. 4 1

This should have been addressed long before now. This has affected graduation for all the students. Not just the protesters. We already know violent protest is not protected by the first amendment. Genocide, or the call for it, of any kind is unacceptable.

Raptor Witness Posted May 2 #120 Share Posted May 2 (edited) The grip of militarism is not broken by peace, but war. Neville Chamberlain proved that. So here we are, in a war of words, for now, but the sword which cuts U.S., is so enormous, it speaks louder than words. The military industrial complex will never be defeated at the ballot box, and that’s a problem. One possible solution is a new kind of representation, where we choose our representatives a completely different way. We need something like the jury system, at the legislative level, where common sense is stronger than the sword at the executive level.
