I just saw a Chuck Holton video where he claims there were 12 souls on board including pilots.  It will be interesting to see who the rest of this dignitaries/bodyguards are.

Iranian President flys around in a 40 year old crappy Bell 212 is asking for problems

Especially if it's accurate that there were 12 souls aboard, flying in the mountains, in fog.

It took long enough to find this wreckage. I guess they weren't talking to anyone from the helicopter.

Heavy is the head who wears the ayatollah's headgear.

I'm thinking he does his traveling from now on with ground transportation.  Iran's trains may be his best bet, ;)

All day the news was reporting 9 on board. That's still the report I'm finding.

I wonder if that source intentionally tried to downplay the likelihood of their deaths or if someone just lied to the source.  Well, I guess it doesn't matter now.  The search and rescue teams are on the site and have confirmed the deaths.  I just hope they accept that it was most likely pilot error.  I don't know how effective their accident investigation agencies are.  As long as they find no evidence of an explosion, they should just accept it as bad luck.

From what was said, it was Iran's Vice President who made the statement. It would have benefited him to tell the Iranian people or the west that they had contacted the helicopter. It took so long for them to find the wreckage. The weather was obviously too bad to be flying an older chopper in with a questionable maintenance record. This is just my opinion. I don't know Iranian maintenance standards.

This is who NBC is now saying were on the helicopter.

Live updates: Iranian President Raisi confirmed dead in helicopter crash, state media reports (nbcnews.com)

Nine people were on board the helicopter that crashed, leaving no survivors, Tasnim News Agency, a government-affiliated outlet, reported.

It listed the decedents on board with Raisi. They included Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian; Ayatollah Al Hashem, representative of the supreme leader for parts of Azerbaijan; Eastern Azerbaijan Gov. Malek Rahmati; Cmdr. Seyed Mahdi Mousavi, the head of the president’s security unit; and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps member Ansarol Mahdi.

The helicopter's pilot and co-pilot and a technical assistant also on board were not identified.

Looking at the gouge at the bottom of the image the helicopter appears to have flown straight into the side of the mountain and then flipped. Well that's the way it looks to me.

I suppose the rotor blades could've cut the gouge as it's fairly close.

No official blame that I'm aware of, although rumours of Mossad's involvement are all over social media.

I see, well I suppose it has only been 1 day.

Hmm... I wonder if Raisi wasn't hawkish enough?  I mean allegedly Iran is days away from developing its first nuclear weapon...

Obituary: Ebrahim Raisi, 63, ‘Butcher of Tehran’ and Khamenei protégé who died in chopper crash

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash Sunday at the age of 63, was a hardline protégé of the country’s supreme leader, was nicknamed “The Butcher of Tehran” for his role in overseeing the mass executions of thousands in 1988, and led the country as it enriched uranium near weapons-grade levels and launched a major drone and missile attack on Israel.

Who is Iran's new acting president - Mohammad Mokhber?

Iran expert Raz Zimmt of both INSS and the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center said that First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber would step into Ebrahim Raisi’s role as president in the event that Raisi has died, which was confirmed by the Islamic Republic on Monday morning.

Next, Mokhber, 69, would work with a special select staff as well as election authorities to set new elections within 50 days. Mokhber is said to have achieved his high position by running much of Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s finances for years. He is also a lead expert for the Ayatollah and Raisi on running a “resistance” economy to keep Iran afloat despite years of global sanctions.

The List of Potential Suspects in the Mysterious Death of Iran’s President Raisi

Ebrahim Raisi, whose helicopter crashed in the northwest of Iran on Sunday, was both the President of Iran and a candidate jockeying to succeed the elderly actual ruler of the country, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Both political positions carried an elevated risk level roughly comparable with that of traveling by air inside Iran—where aviation safety, compromised by decades of sanctions and uneven maintenance, has claimed the lives of almost as many senior Iranian officials as its shadow war with Israel, which also loomed over Raisi’s reported demise.

It's not impossible that there were survivors who were able to talk for a while but later died due to injuries.  From what I understand it took Iran approximately 12 hours to find and get to the crash site, that is a long time for people with probably life threatening injuries to survive so it's not impossible a few people survived the crash and were able to make a few calls.

The Iranian government lying about survivors to give them more time to plan how to handle the situation is also highly possible especially given that the Iranian government does not like quick unexpected change.

That the helicopter's pilot was actually a Mossad agent named Eli Copter was a joke that got out of hand.

Apparently, Hamas’ main Telegram page went on to cite that joke as a fact.
