Two 12-year-old boys have been found guilty of murdering a man who was stabbed through the heart with a machete.

Shawn Seesahai, 19, died in November last year after being set upon in an unprovoked attack on Stowlawn playing fields in East Park, Wolverhampton.

The pair, who cannot be named, are believed to be the youngest convicted of the crime since  James Bulger's killers were detained in 1993.

During a trial at Nottingham Crown Court, the boys sought to blame each other, but the jury convicted them both of Mr Seesahai's murder on Monday.

Someone is murdered and the perpetrators are coddled?

Special arrangements had to be made at the trial because of the defendants' ages.

The boys sat in the main well of the court instead of the dock. Alongside them were family members and specially trained staff to help them understand proceedings.

The trial took place in one of the smaller courts in Nottingham to create a less intimidatory atmosphere. None of the legal staff wore wigs or gowns and instead dressed in business suits. The court sessions were reduced to roughly 40 minutes and longer breaks were taken than there would normally be in an adult trial.

The court day finished earlier at 15:30 so the boys would not become too tired, and they were offered fidget toys to aid with concentration.

The boys were old enough to carry out their crime and knew what they were doing; it was premeditated murder so they don't need 'help' understanding the court proceedings nor should the proceedings be held in a special environment, it is a court proceeding over a very serious matter and they SHOULD feel intimidated because they MURDERED someone in cold blood. Forget the cute fidget toys or the judges wearing special attire. These kids are gonna have to get used to wearing prison garb and seeing prison guards glaring at them all the time and get used to being intimidated because they never got any discipline at home. (By discipline I am not referring to hitting/striking/etc)

Also..these boys obviously came from an environment where no morals, ethics, values and (*gasp* dare I even say it?) responsibility. The parents are either insanely unaware, don't care or are absent entirely; regardless these kids have full understanding of what they did so should be tried as adults. And if the bladed weapons weren't available they would have used something else. It's just that simple.

Of course one will be scared because the realization has hit that they could (should) be tried as adults and put in prison for a very long time.
