Still Waters Posted June 30 #1 Share Posted June 30 At Rift House primary school in Hartlepool classrooms now have spaces in which children can sleep. “We see little ones coming in worn out,” said Dave Turner, the school’s headteacher. “Sometimes they are sharing a bed with siblings. Sometimes they share with different families.” The cash-strapped school gives all its children free breakfasts, PE kits and stationery, but beds were a stretch too far. However, that is about to change thanks to a charitable project led by another local head, which launched last week and aims to deliver 10,000 new beds to children in the Tees Valley in the next three years. Turner’s school already has a list of families they want the project to help. https://www.theguardian.com/education/article/2024/jun/30/the-hartlepool-headteacher-trying-to-find-beds-for-10000-sleep-deprived-pupils 1 1
Mark_C Posted July 6 #2 Share Posted July 6 The deliberate shortage of affordable housing is set to make this problem worse, its going to mean more people in each household/bedroom. My hometown 💔
L.A.T.1961 Posted July 6 #3 Share Posted July 6 Kids can sleep anywhere, taking their mobile phones will likely have a bigger impact on sleep levels. 😉

Its hard to say what their exact circumstance are, what constitutes spoilt today ? If kids are not put to bed on a school night in good time and without distractions then what their sleeping arrangements are is a secondary issue. But I take your general point.
