French ‘Excalibur’ sword suddenly vanishes after 1,300 years wedged in stone

An ancient sword known as the French version of King Arthur’s legendary “Excalibur” has mysteriously vanished from the town where, according to local lore, it had remained lodged in a rock for 1,300 years.

The Durandal sword appears to have been taken by a thief from its stone in the tiny medieval town of Rocamadour, where it was one of the town’s main attractions, The Telegraph reported.

For centuries it’s been believed the sword once belonged to Roland, a semi-legendary knight who bravely fought for Charlemagne in the eighth century.

Officials in Rocamadour have launched an investigation into the disappearance of the sword, which was yanked from its spot in a cliff wall some 100 feet off the ground.

The guy was a reprobate and the story is that Archangel Michael confronted him and told him he needed to do work for god, his reply, it would be easier for met  shove my sword into that stone than to change my ways and work for your god.   Michael told him to do it and when the sword went into the stone he changed his ways and worked for the catholic church.   They built a chapel for him around the sword in the stone once he became a saint.

I think that the Angel who originally owned the sword and had it stolen from him, has reclaimed it . . . and will make it bright and shiny again!

Okay above the location on the wall where the sword was stuck into, is a balcony or ledge, possible for someone to crawl across and lean over to pull it off. Alco there's a window right next to the old sword's place too, where someone could very easily reach out and get it. 

The question they're all asking is who did it and why?

The real question should be how did they manage to dislodge it anyway?
