It's good to see the new govt. have hit the ground running.

David Lammy today claimed his tour of EU nations was 'just the beginning' of Britain forging a 'closer partnership' with the bloc under Labour.

The new Foreign Secretary is making his first trip abroad as Britain's top diplomat following his party's thumping general election win.

Mr Lammy met with his German counterpart Annalena Baerbock in Berlin yesterday, barely 24 hours after Sir Keir Starmer became PM, before travelling to Poland today.

He is also due to visit Sweden in his push to 'rebuild trust and reset the relationship between the UK and the EU'.

Mr Lammy supported Remain and was a prominent campaigner for a second referendum following the 2016 Brexit vote.

But Labour have insisted, despite wanting to rewrite Boris Johnson's Brexit deal, they won't seek to rejoin the EU's single market or customs union, or return to free movement.

The Defence Secretary has also been busy. No time to waste when 14 years of neglect and damage has to be repaired.

Less than 48 hours after John Healey was appointed as the UK’s new Defence Secretary following the Labour Party's victory in the July 4th elections, he visited Odesa, Ukraine. After a meeting with President Zelenskyy and discussions with his counterpart Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, John Healey announced that the UK would provide a new package of support to Ukraine.

The PM is also starting a tour of the UK to restore unity.

Sir Keir Starmer has just spoken alongside the Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar, who introduced the new PM to a rapturous applause of party supporters in Edinburgh.

After a long intro from his Scottish colleague, Sir Keir says it's "hugely important" for him to visit the devolved nations as soon as possible.

"That was an incredible election result, a historic result and a real mandate for change - we start here," he says.

He is daft enough to think he gets the choice.

Wait until the Labour Party MPs start demanding it and he`ll be gone unless he caves. Remember, its not PMs that are elected but parties, and the winning party picks the PM.
