In a general sense the far left have resulted in more death and suffering than the far right, to be fair the far left did have longer to commit all the atrocities. While you're right that all populism is dangerous, I don't recall a left wing populist starting a global war.

They are too wrapped up in the tribalism and once the country begins to burn, as it inevitably will, they'll remain true to their tribal roots and just blame Le Pen, even though she and her coalition will have little or no power to even influence the government's policies. They are already champing at the bit to slap Israel down. Once France recognizes "Palestine", Israel should stop all trade and recall their ambassador for "consultations". Israel is one of the most important tech start-up nations in the world and losing access to their products will hurt even France if it goes on, long term. I fully expect the Left to burn it down and when they do, they'll deserve what they get. I'd imagine that the end result will see Islam rise to control and within a short time, average French citizens will be compelled to bend the knee to Sharia, whether the government mandates it or not. They just killed hundreds of millions of their own citizens. As for starting a global war, Stalin was a populist and he did help start WW2 with the joint invasion of Poland with Nazi Germany Edited July 8 by DarkHunter

The US next, hopefully. France’s far-right National Rally has failed to become the largest party at parliamentary elections, according to shock exit poll results, which forecast the left-wing New Popular Front coalition is in pole position. In results which would deliver a bitter blow to Marine Le Pen, an exit poll by Ipsos suggested the NFP coalition will win between 172 and 192 seats, with the Emmanuel Macron-backing Ensemble group taking second place and Ms Le Pen’s party in third place. Mr Macron took even his own allies by surprise in calling the snap election last month, after the anti-immigration National Rally made huge gains in European elections. itsnotoutthere Posted July 9 #55 Share Posted July 9 "French Elections exit polls - France rejects Populism" They didn't though really did they. The left wing parties conspired to deny the popular vote, and as has been pointed out simply by doing that doesn't change the peoples minds, it just disenfranchises them and the French people are notorious for fighting back when they feel aggrieved.

itsnotoutthere Posted July 9 #57 Share Posted July 9 France's coalition vows to bring in 90 per cent tax rate on the rich France's radical left-wing coalition has vowed to bring in a 90 per cent tax rate on the rich following their shock election triumph on Sunday. In a result that caught political commentators by surprise, the New Popular Front emerged as the biggest party in the second round of the elections which ended in a deadlock, gaining 182 seats ahead of President Emmanuel Macron's centrist Ensemble party, on 168. Marine Le Pen 's populist right National Rally, which won the first round of elections on June 30, performed poorly in the second round and only obtained 143 seats. The NPF appears to be heading for a power struggle with president Macron - as he wants to be free to pick the next Prime Minister himself - against the backdrop of tensions and uncertainty in a country with a long history of political violence. https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/world/france-s-coalition-vows-to-bring-in-90-per-cent-tax-rate-on-the-rich/ar-BB1pDzRz?ocid=BingHp01&cvid=91230924c16d41dcb6fb8e5188b0fac2&ei=15 1

Their politics of envy just about says it all - "You have earned something and I am going to take it away from you", and is the very reason why they fail at everything their hateful agenda touches. It was only a little over ten years ago that Hollande introduced his disastrous short-lived 75% SuperTax, and straight away those with the money upped and left, taking their money with them, which meant those in the lower tax brackets ended up being taxed even more to make up the shortfall. Ironically, lame duck President Micron, who has now got himself into bed with these far-left nutters in order to save his own skin, was France’s economy minister at the time, and described the 75% SuperTax as being, quote: "Cuba without the sun." Still, like all these deluded socialists, that wasn't really socialism, and they'll get it right.... this time. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/dec/31/france-drops-75percent-supertax Edited July 9 by Destination Unknown

So you'd have opposed it if Reform and the Tories had worked together, with Reform taking the former Labour seats in the north and Tories focussing on the south in our election? Yeah, right. You'd have been crowing about how it proved the people wanted a far right government. All this shows is that the French left and centre are smarter than our right wing. L.A.T.1961 Posted July 10 #61 Share Posted July 10 The left wing block are different parties who had nothing to do with each other a few days before the election, they will not operate as a single party would. They have taken vote share but cannot form a stable government. There cannot be another election for 12 months under the French system so 12 months of in fighting while the French economy becomes the EU boat anchor.
