Science minister slams Brexit | The Spectator

It's a strange thing, but whenever "experts" look at Brexit they think it is a problem rather than a triumph. Perhaps Michael Gove was right, and we should stop listening to experts. It may be better to put our fingers in our ears and go "lalala" like the leading Brexiters.

Another day, another drama. This time Sir Patrick Vallance is in the limelight, after attacking Brexit on the BBC. The new science minister – and former scientific adviser to the government – has given a rather curious interview this afternoon in which he has slammed the decision to leave the EU and refuses to rule out free movement. Golly.

Speaking to the Beeb today, the new peer started by telling his interviewer he was ‘surprised’ but ‘honoured’ to be asked to be the science minister by Sir Keir Starmer. The conversation then took a rather, um, bizarre turn. Turning to the ‘problem’ of Brexit, Vallance said that visa rules should be eased for researchers and added that UK needs to be part of an ‘international’ science community.

I wonder how Vallance can explain the UK's ability to produce and then jab the first people in the world.

No sign of a problem there. Either the UK is working well enough with everybody else or we don't need them.

At some point the assumption, by the BBC, that brexit is a problem will have to be dropped.

Let me translate, yes we are world leading in the UK but I want canapés at taxpayers expense in Brussels because this Lordship lark is rather cushy but I want more... and the jabs/ covid was so anti-scientific that he is not the only one to be surprised he was asked to be the science minister.
