I like when Biden and his staff keep saying, "The voters spoke, and voted for him in the Primaries. Thus, he is the candidate/".

But, wasn't George Clooney one of those who voted for him, and yet wants him to step aside now? Every single person in the Democrat party who wants him to step aside now voted for him in the primaries. ... Based on... What? Lies? Lies about how capable Joe was.

The people NOW say they were wrong. So, will he still listen to the voters, and change HIS mind? Doubtful, as he has gotten Proud in his age. Pride comes before the fall.

Yeah. I posted Clooney's take earlier.

Did the voters have a choice? We all know Nikki Haley was in the race for a short time against Trump but I don't remember any real challenge to Biden coming forward.

Actually, Allan Lichtman said the only other way for Democrats to still have a shot at the Whitehouse if Biden drops out, is for Biden to resign after that making Mamala Harris the President. And so, they would still retain the incumbency and no contest key. Nothing would change with his model. Oh boy that would go over well.  I personally know some people that would lose their minds over her becoming President.

Is America ready to accept a black female as president?

There were a lot of people in the Southern U.S. that weren't ready for Obama to become President. And during Obama's first term, a few crazy men from different Southern states got arrested on their way to Washington D.C. because they were planning to assassinate him. Thank God they didn't succeed.

I live in the Southern U.S., and I still see and hear the same racist attitude about any Politician that is not white holding public office. So no, I don't think some Americans are.

She identifies as "black", but she's actually Indian, which is Asian. I work with many Indians and they dont usually identify as "black".

Her dad was a half black, half Irish, from Jamaica.

Shes as much Irish as she is African.

IMHO, it really shouldnt matter, but some people think skin color should trump ability, or experience.

Are people ready? Id say 90% will be OK with it. But its always been the 10% everyone has to watch out for.

Oh, wiki says she is African American and Asian American. The media tend to put out there the idea that she is African American.

Thanks for the info.

The bad reception Obama got and still gets makes me think otherwise.

From who? Neo nazi fringers?

Maybe at first by old people, and closet racists.

Mostly, IMHO, Obama got hammered because of his very unpopular Obamacare signature legislation. Conservatives hated the law.

That and the "militarizing the IRS" thing. There did seem to be a little bit of "there" there.

Also the level of rejection of bipartisanism during his administration. He had a Democrat Congress at first, and gave the finger to the Republicans constantly. So when the Rs got into power, they flipped the finger back at him. And the bitterness continues to this day.

Biden in 2020 said hed end the fueding, but didnt. He made it worse.

Lots of reasons to dislike Obama regardless of his skin.

Obama got hammered by a group of closet racist, that identified themselves as the birther movement with Donald Trump leading the way.

I certainly agree with you here, Biden should have kept his mouth shut because he did certainly did make it worse. I also agree there were certainly lots of reasons to dislike Obama and his skin certainly had nothing to do with it.

I remember the birther movement. It was fringe also. What % of citizens actually bought into that? Probably less than 5%. Maybe 2%.

Age and experience is bound to translate into wisdom and in that sense, I am glad that Biden is the American president. He is not bound to take any knee-jerk and impulsive decisions , especially in a highly volatile time like this.

The conservatives bought and the fringe groups all bought into it, and like I said Trump lead the way, do you think he has changed?

Yes it is and love driving trips listening to them as well as many others from those times. They were new releases first time I heard them as a teen. Brings back some good memories as well.

Trump?

Not much. If there is change, it will be because he sees advantage in it, not strictly because he believes anything specific.

I remember the Birther thing pretty well. Everyone looked into it for a couple weeks, than Obama showed his birth certificate and things mostly cleared up.

I agree with you, he would certainly have to gain some benefit from doing so or forget it because he was, and still is out for himself!!!!!!!

Might be the beginning of the end for Joe.

https://nypost.com/2024/07/17/us-news/biden-says-medical-condition-could-prompt-him-to-drop-out-if-doctors-came-to-me/

Quote

President Biden said in a new interview that he would consider dropping out if he was diagnosed with a “medical condition” by doctors — giving the clearest indication yet that he may be faltering in his vow to seek a second term.

So, if doctors.... say... just only this week... determined he had a chronic medical condition, hed agree to drop out.

Quote

“But our nation is at a crossroads,” he said. “A second Trump presidency will undermine the very foundation of our democracy, and I have serious concerns about whether the President can defeat Donald Trump in November.”

Schiff said the “choice to withdraw from the campaign is President Biden’s alone,” but that he believes it is time for Biden “to pass the torch” and “secure his legacy of leadership” by allowing another Democrat to beat Trump.

Id have never thought Schiff would turn on Biden. If HE is, than you know its like 75% of Democrats are secretly hoping Joe drops out.
