Shuffletracker Posted July 13 #1 Share Posted July 13 (edited) If you guys and gals liked my story about me getting "dry humped" by a succubus, you might like this true story. I took one of my real estate sales commissions check to Reno, NV to play some blackjack and to go to a girly bar. A little more than $5.000 and this happened about 20 + years ago. When I left Reno, I was up about $8.000, meaning I had won just under $3.000 at the 21 table (see my username). So, I left Reno in my car to go back to my place in northern CA. While in the Sierra Nevada mountains...I am driving along and my car breaks down on the I - 80 freeway west on Eagle Lakes Rd near Cisco Grove, CA. It was nighttime too. For some unknown reason, instead of pulling to the side of the road, I turned off onto the off ramp of Eagle Lakes Rd and got out of my car, at first, I thought I had dropped the transmission, but I didn't. Still there was fluid all over the road. I tried to call on my cell phone, but it wouldn't work in the mountains. I was stuck in the middle of nowhere at night. I didn't have a flashlight either. So, I wait for someone to come off the off ramp, one hour goes by, no one comes by. After some time after that...a car full of rough looking guys pulls off of the off ramp. These guys didn't look like campers but rather criminals, you know? So, their eyeballing me. And they turn right on Eagle Lakes Rd. I just knew I was going to get robbed or worse. I didn't have a gun. I was dressed in my Saturday night clothes so I looked like the perfect victim. It was then that I decided to go into the woods. Me and my $8.000 bucks. So, I started walking in the other direction. And I noticed that it became VERY quiet. I keep walking and I notice a chain-link fence to the left of me and I thought to myself that fence must have a gate opening somewhere then in the distance I see a house with the lights on. So, I keep walking looking for the gate. I could have jumped the fence but I didn't want to do that and have them think of me as a burglar. So, I kept walking & walking & walking...and I noticed something very bizarre, I WASN'T GETTING ANY CLOSER TO THE HOUSE! I must have walked for at least a half an hour. So, I stopped walking. Then I turned around. AND I WAS BACK AT MY CAR! I for a fact KNOW that I walked a good distance, how could I be back at my car? So, some weird coincidence happened next...I saw a tow-truck driver headed towards me from the freeway AND at the same time that carload full of goons appeared on the road and pasted by me. The tow-truck driver approached me with one of those 4 cell metal flashlights. If that tow-truck driver didn't arrive when he did. Those goons would have got me. For sure. So, I get in the guy's tow-truck, and I notice that the off-ramp area is very lit-up. It was dark when I was walking. I also noticed that the freeway Noise was loud. It was very quiet when I was walking. I also noticed there was no chain link fence anywhere near the off ramp. Also, there was no house in the distance. I couldn't have been in the greenbelt because that area was fenced off. So, I don't know where I was walking for half an hour. But I certainly wasn't on Eagle Lakes Rd. ST PS: I tipped the tow-truck driver $200 because if it wasn't for him showing up when he did, those dudes would have jacked me up. BTW, I don't expect the UM regulars on here to believe my story, but this is exactly what happened. Edited July 13 by Shuffletracker 5
Guyver Posted July 13 #2 Share Posted July 13 You had me within ten seconds of reading this thread, I heard….dry humped by a female succubus, commission checks, black Jack and girly bars in Reno….yeah….I’m in….subscribed. Lol.
Guyver Posted July 13 #3 Share Posted July 13 It was dark, you had no flashlight, you were apparently ill prepared for the trip. Maybe you walked in a semi-circle that took a half hour. Or, maybe you were scared of the hoodlums and you hid and waited for most of the thirty minutes…and just kindof forgot about it, then started walking again and ended up back at your car?

Shuffletracker Posted July 14 Author #7 Share Posted July 14 No. I walked in a straight line. I had to have, as the road was also straight i.e. The opposite direction those creeps went in. The fence line that I was following was also straight not curved. I was no longer on Eagle Lakes Rd, but somewhere else. When I am playing blackjack, I have to drink some bourbon & 7-up to throw off the casino that I am keeping track of the high/low cards in the game and cutting the high cards in play. But I wasn't drunk enough to drive or anything like that.
papageorge1 Posted July 14 #8 Share Posted July 14 How did a tow truck driver know to show up? Are you saying that is inexplicable and part of the strangeness?

What prompted him was that he saw my headlights on on the off ramp. He was driving west on I-80, saw my headlights on, pulled off to the side of the freeway, backed his tow truck up in reverse and made his way to me & my car.

That same thing happened in the movie grand canyon, had glover not shown up thugs would have gotten Klein whose car was dead. I'm missing the other dimension to your story.

Then I did question why you consider your story some other dimension.
Hugh Posted August 31 #19 Share Posted August 31 Hi Shuffletracker. I looked up the area you are talking about on Google Maps. I found the exact coordinates: 39°19'21.2"N 120°33'44.5"W I put them into Google Earth, zoomed in and looked around the area. If you have that app you could zoom in yourself and look around. There is an area of power lines to the Northeast that runs along the base of the mountain that may have had the chain link fence that you mentioned you followed. That would have led you in a direction which is more quiet, angling slightly further away from I-80, towards the Hampshire Rocks Rd area where the house was in the distance, but still quite far away. Turning around and following the fence back would have led you back your car. There may have been a Visual Reorientation Illusion (VRI) involved somewhere in your travels which turned around your bearings. I have experienced VRIs often and can attest to them making you see what appears to be “another dimension” of a place, because it is turned around 90 or 180 degrees from how you normally see it.

I am not going to say that your wrong. With what you have provided, I am going to say that I just don't know anymore. The whole experience was so surreal & sort of spooky. Thanks for looking into it, I've never used Google Earth before.
Hugh Posted September 1 #21 Share Posted September 1 Thanks! Yes with the experience having happened at night, in an unfamiliar area and about 20 years ago, it would be hard to remember exactly the directions you were sensing at the time. Google Earth is fun to look around places with because you can zoom in from any angle you want and get a great bird’s eye view. I like to use it in conjunction with Google Street View to get a clearer idea of a place before I visit it.

I don't hunt but my wife and I used it to find property lines and areas needing improvement in stewardship forests.
