Grim Reaper 6 Posted July 15 #1 Share Posted July 15 Research indicates adolescent boys show increased aggression when their masculinity is perceived as threatened, especially under social pressures to conform to traditional masculine norms. The study highlights the importance of addressing these pressures during puberty to prevent negative behaviors linked to fragile masculinities. It’s been long established that certain men become aggressive when they see their manhood as being threatened. When does this behavior emerge during development—and why? A new study by a team of psychology researchers shows that adolescent boys may also respond aggressively when they believe their masculinity is under threat—especially boys growing up in environments with rigid, stereotypical gender norms.. https://scitechdaily.com/why-do-some-teen-boys-turn-aggressive-the-surprising-role-of-masculinity/ 2

Michelle Posted July 15 #8 Share Posted July 15 The boys in school learned about my toxic masculine side when I caught them picking on someone. I've only had to use it three times since.😇 2
Guyver Posted July 15 #9 Share Posted July 15 (edited) My dad taught me, that when driving…you always stop and let a pretty girl cross the street, so you can gaze upon her in an undistracted fashion. That pretty much sums up my lessons in manhood. Oh, that plus…don’t ever start a fight, just make sure you finish one or else when you get home you’ll get a good ass kicking yourself. Guyver Posted July 15 #10 Share Posted July 15 They used to call those the “Good old days.” Now, you should teach your children, they can be whatever they want, and if they want to be a kitty, they can dress like one, and advocate for having a kitty litter box in the classroom for their bowel movements. Sigh. 1
Sir Wearer of Hats Posted July 15 #11 Share Posted July 15 A similar conversation is occurring ATM in Doctor Who fandom, because Ncuti Gutwa as the Doctor cries. Such as when he is standing on a land mine and realises that because of the way the mine works, coupled eith his biology it’d blow up part of the planet. He cries when Spoiler The villain of the series literally murders the universe. And so on. and a lot of people are getting their knickers knotted because they think it’s not masculine or heroic for him to be crying. Whereas I think it shows someone in touch with their emotions - you’d have a damn good cry in similar situations I’m sure. He also doesn’t JUST cry, he has a cry and then gets on with the job at hand. IMO that’s an appropriate and mature approach. 1
XenoFish Posted July 15 #12 Share Posted July 15 Aggression because I want to protect myself and my friends. Such a terrible thing, I guess.🙄 I only had one real fight in school and the other kid needed reconstructive surgery on his nose. 3
