SETI found ET, but did not tell you.

That’s not a particularly fair assessment.

When people post a sighting that’s fine, discuss and speculate about the possibilities.  What upsets witnesses is when they are offered alternative viewpoints, backed up by a hard science assessment that aliens are very very very unlikely to be visiting us in spacecraft.

The issue isn’t that skeptics are unfair in their assessments, it’s that witnesses have already made their minds up, and usually have their head so far down a rabbit hole that doing a U-turn is impossible without losing their face.

If people reported sightings with an open mind there would be no issue, the sad truth is, and I do genuinely mean sad, is that all sightings, documented or otherwise, are lacking the one thing required for genuine study, repeatability.

Because of this, equally as sad, is this fact opens up the whole area to people out to make a quick buck or a name for themselves.

Ironically, it is the true believers that should be casting the most skeptical eye on any claim, because it’s the fakers and profiteerers that shine such a bad light on the subject.

To quote Astro-physicist Matt O’Dowd ‘it’s NEVER aliens, until it is.’

You may want to take a look at these threads and the threads on the forum and you will see what I am saying is true. You may want to ask others in these threads and I am sure they will tell you the same thing.

It's a constant attack against anyone who either has had a sighting or accepts that a number of sightings other observers had are truly unexplained and could be of alien origin.

My assessment is fair. This kind of 'skepticism' is based on constant suspicion and the need to prove others wrong even if they are not. I don't know the motivation but it looks like some psychological need to be satisfied.

I had a sighting and I just shared it here. I don't expect or demand others to accept it but I know what I saw. And it wasn't balloons, meteors, 🎅, and whatever else people try to suggest it was.

The reason almost all of these people are discredited is because they are hoaxers and that’s the biggest problem people face even if they have good intentions and information.

We have some great examples of that here at UM.

Lies and faked videos is nothing that bothers these people... They will sling literally anything to spread the gospel.

Everyone is subject to criticism. I don't contest this.

But I will insist that this kind of 'skepticism' is wealonised to attack and discredit people (even scientists) who have an open mind on the subject.

Not everyone is a hoaxer. See these threads. There is no better example than online forums.

I agree unfortunately this is the reason no one listens, yea they don't realize that just being honest will go a long way.

Not everyone is hoaxer, I agree but the majority of people are and that makes the honest people also suspect. So, when someone presents something, they must give it the BS test and if it doesn't past don't present it. It's like presenting something from the science community when you have not checked out the scientist and you present their work your still guilty of presenting misinformation.

If these believers could understand those simple words, UFOlogy would be a much better off.

Why do you think the majority of people who have had a sighting are hoaxers? Some people are (no doubt about it). But I wouldn't say the majority are hoaxers. Some people may as well be mistaken but that's not what we call hoaxers who deliberately want to push a lie.

You can't do this online or check someone's story and evidence in forums. Let's be real about it.

Yeah right. Some nutty mathematician got lost in his own brain, and Youtube goes crazy.

I know, like me you believe that extraterrestrial 👽 life exists in the universe and I even believe that some of the UAPs hypothetically could be Extraterrestrial probes. But I am open to interpretation and until an extraterrestrial ship lands and says take me to your leader or other evidence is collected that proves it, I don't believe that extraterrestrials have ever visited the earth. If these people would keep an open mind, other people would not be so critical of them. Skyeagle is a good example of someone who has lost it, and he has been made a prisoner in a single thread because he is so unyielding that he disrupts and contaminates any other thread he joins into, it's really sad in reality!

I believe most people who have a sighting have seen something they could not explain. But I don't call all those people hoaxers, if they will communicate within reason. But the true believers like Skyeagle ruin it for people who are interested and want to discuss the topics while keeping an open mind and not trying to force things down the throat of others. So, when you present something be flexible and discuss the topic from a scientific point of view and people while not always agreeing with you will accept you.

I observed a ufo up close. It was about 120 to 140 meters in length. Its entire length passed overhead very slowly at a distance of about six meters (if I had raised up my arm; so say at a distance of 6.45 meters from my eyes). My conclusion, afterwards, was that it had a human crew.

I could tell more, but I will not.

I believe it would be nearly impossible to cover up long term, I am certain that whistleblowers would come out of the woodwork.

JIMHO

GR6, you are aware of the many whistleblowers that have come out already....?

The UFO presentations by high-up government people are out there. People simply choose not to believe them.

That is because the evidence they are providing is in conclusive or because of their previous reputation. Let's face it Earl, nothing presented is earth shattering.

With all the leaks and spying going on, this sort of secret would not have been bottled up very long. Certainly not over the last 30-40 years.

Trelane,, you are correct. But that is because when all the military people - say, in the Roswell incident- as one example,
come out and say "It was a UFO", nobody believes them. and that's how it remains "bottled up"

I think I know the answer, but I’m gonna ask the question anyway, who are these ‘many’ whistleblowers?

This fascinates the heck out of me.

What did you think of the "Go Fast" video? lol That's the pentagon. Also, Alizando, Fravor, Underwood, and Grusch come to mind as whistleblowers, too

So by that rational should all the disbelievers be made prisoners in a single thread for being unyielding and disruptive?

Just watched the videos, to summarise all three, because it’s amazing how so much talking can occur without getting to the point:

SETI has found a candidate techno signal, they have focused on the location and are currently working on verification and analysis, at the request of NASA SETI.

This is exciting for sure, but as far as I see no cover ups occurring, just the scientific community being thorough and responsible with the data they have.

Yes of course.

But if Alien Albert stood on stage at Madison Square Garden and said "Hi, y'all", you'd see it covered up so fast it would make your head spin

@skyeagle409

No that's not my rational at all, skyeagle was sentenced to time because he disrupted every UAP thread by spamming them, I suppose Saru has his reasons why not ask him, because he is the only one that can answer that question.;)

While Skyeagle can read these comments he is not allowed to post to this thread:yes:

You seem to have a real problem reading and understanding?

Here, lets try it again...

Im talking about the clowns that are CLAIMING that alien spacecraft is here on Earth - with no corroborating scientific proof.

Dude,

if the guy claiming that there are UAP's here in earth, and he showed photos of it, you would call him a liar and the photo fake.

Been there, done that, a dozen times before.

Thanks for the skimpy and I’m not advocating for anyone just pointing out a discrepancy in your argument. You made the allegation so I’m directly asking you not Saru. So do you believe that Skyeagle is the only poster scamming this sub-forum with unyielding and disruptive content? It’s not a difficult question

I didn't say scamming, I said spamming and while he doesn't intentionally spam the forum he doesn't know when to stop and his sources are very questionable. In addition, when the conversation has ended, he posts more information over and over again. On personal level he doesn't bother me, I just pay no attention to it, but he bothers many others and I suppose they reported him to Saru, thus now he has his own thread where he can post until his heart is content!!!!
