Secret Service ramped up security after receiving intel of Iranian plot to assassinate Donald Trump

US authorities obtained intelligence from a human source in recent weeks on a plot by Iran to try to assassinate Donald Trump, a development that led to the Secret Service increasing security around the former president, multiple people briefed on the matter told CNN.

There’s no indication that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the would-be assassin who attempted to kill the former president on Saturday, was connected to the plot, the sources said.

The existence of the intelligence threat from a hostile foreign intelligence agency — and the enhanced security for Trump — raises new questions about the security lapses at the Saturday rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and how a 20-year-old man managed to access a nearby rooftop to fire shots that injured the former president.

Am I the only one who wants to call bull shat on this story?  They ignore a low roof top on a building less than 200 yds from his podium and that is AFTER they enhanced his security?

You can call it anything you like but at least read the article before responding!

Imho, it is a false lead planted to confuse the investigators so that the true culprits will have enough time to cover their tracks. 

The Iranians usually indulge in bluff and would be surprised and even flattered that their name has been dragged to this issue. 

I think the true perpetrators are bound to get away just like those in the JFK assassination.

I read the article before you began the thread.  What specific addition of personnel was made?  Was there an increase in budget or surveillance assets?  Finally and most critically, who on earth is naive enough to believe that was a professional protection detail when they didn't check a rooftop 130 YDS from his podium?  You can roll your eyes all you like but this old boy is FAR from being the only American calling BS on this claim.  If they refuse to share the details of the investigation, Trump's campaign should hire their own security professionals and sound off loud and clear that they do not trust DC to protect his life.

So, you’re basically saying that Trumps Secret Service detail consists of untrained personnel. While I agree there were certainly major flaws in their performance, I don’t see it as a plot to intentionally cause Trump harm. I don’t believe this was intentional nefarious plot designed to put him out of the race. This is not 1964 and he certainly is not John F. Kennedy, yet your certainly welcome to your beliefs that there is some kind of conspiracy occurring here.

No you’re not the only American to trust sources of information that are designed to provide misinformation. I think he should dismiss his Secret Service detail also, it would certainly save the American taxpayer a great deal money. If that’s what it takes to stop the misinformation and conspiracy theories it’s money well spent and as you say frequently half of America would appreciate it.

You forget the Iranians have put a bounty on Trump's head following his ordering the assassination of Soleimani in 2020. It would be very much in character for the Iranians to consider assassinating him. They're just extremely unlikely to have the capability to follow through on it.
