What is the point of this? How did the action of these countries affect the UK's preparation and response to Covid? You are not still blaming the EU for the UK's problems, are you?

An estimated 33,000 deaths in the United Kingdom were attributed to the 1957–1958 flu outbreak.

1957 average population UK: 51,430,200

2020 average population UK: 67,081,234

1.3 x 33000 = 43000 deaths per year (corrected for 2020)

227000 / 3 = 76000 deaths per year in 2020

The difference between 1957 influenza deaths (which may have been corona deaths as people at the time did not distinguish between corona and influenza) and the alleged 2020 corona deaths (if they all were in fact corona deaths, which contentious) is less than a factor of two.

In my opinion there was no reason whatsoever for the corona craziness. Indeed, I suspect that that craziness may have significantly raised the number of deaths. (Iatrogenic illness.)

The case is easily made.

I am pointing out that while the UK covid inquiry has highlighted problems, others in Europe have also found themselves wasting money and making wrong decisions.

I have not suggested above that the EU is in anyway to blame. Although they did try and stop the UK receiving raw materials to make Vaccine from reaching the UK. Amongst other things.

Presumably the ability to chart a path through covid was beyond the ability of any government you care to look at.

Performance can only be measured by comparison to others.

The UK had the first vaccine to be given to an individual.

Everybody else came second or worse.

Some might know but I have not seen a theoretical best response for dealing with covid and how far away the UK was from it.

Or, how should the UK have anticipated a covid style infection rather than the Flu.

Maybe a direct line to God. 😉

The general accusations of mishandling must be based on comparisons to nebulous assumptions by those involved in the inquiry.

And dare I say politics.

Its called knowing the counterfactual. What would have happened if something else was done.

It can only be guessed at, unless you are related to Nostradamus and win the lottery every week. 😉
