Precisely so.  Trump will be Trump, that never changes.  The only way to judge who "won" will be with moves in polling.  Harris could launch into a garbled word salad that was so convoluted it couldn't be understood and those here who support her wouldn't be able to say enough about how badly she beat Orange Man Bad.  Nah, it will only be about polling and even that may not tell the full tale.  The Dems have to make the majority of voters in the majority of states believe they are better off now than when Trump was in office OR they have to convince them of the nonsense that he is truly an existential threat to our "democracy".  Frankly, If Americans have become so mindless as to believe that, the nation deserves to fall.

You do know a lot of people are doing very well finacially, not everyone is struggling or living pay check to paycheck not to mention a lot of people are honored to pay their fair share to help. Trump was an awful president his own record speaks for him. He couldn't handle the job and that is on him. He is a lot of bluster and bs he talks in made up hypotheticals, not reality.

2020 was a close election and with covid issues so sore loser tRumpy was able to bellow fraud he huffed puffed threatened insisted failed insurrection, and in the end waddled off.
In the past I always said tRump would never get "locked up" people like him don't they walk around the rain drops.
The playground has changed he's a one term incompetent bumbling failure former POTUS now with convicted felon under his belt , so sure when Harris spanks him his unhinged meltdown just might get him hauled off and no amount of magaT cries of bullying threats that the country is magaT and won't tolarate it will change a thing.

That's an opinion and it isn't shared by tens of millions of the rest of us in the "flyover states".  Her record is also ripe for using against her.  The fact that you lot seem ready to idolize and coronate doesn't matter a whit to the election in November.

Here, meaning US if a person doesn’t like the candidate they typically don’t vote at all. 

This doesn't surprise me st all. It's the people distanced from Trump swallowing his rhetoric that see him as some sort of saviour. 

I don't like Vance from what I've seen so far. Overly conservative gun nut with a smart ass attitude. Seems a real jerk.

What I have noticed is the inflammatory rhetoric that Trump has infected his followers with, like calling Kamala "border czar". 

For a bunch of people claiming to be anti authority they sure seem to gravitate towards supremicist culture.

Her record is pretty bad and her time as attorney general of California had some bad things happen under her watch.

Besides from her record there is what people working in her campaign have said about her.  Her campaign staff in 2020 described her as indecisive and allowed competing factions to form in her campaign.

Ultimately Kamala does not have a track record of being able to run a successful national campaign and it seems like she has not improved in that regard as vice president.  There is a good chance her 2024 presidential campaign will go about as well as her 2020 campaign attempt.

That's an interesting suggestion. I'd be happy to use polling metrics (as long as we can agree on which polls). Alternatively the bookmakers do a good job of reacting to immediate crises - the reaction in the betting markets after the Trump/Biden debate were absolutely shocking. Before I'd even seen the debate I knew Biden had a train wreck just by how badly his odds dropped at the bookmaker immediately after the debate. 

If @Grim Reaper 6- is happy with that metric and is happy to agree, I would be willing to have a bragging rights bet for the winner of the debate based on bookies or polls (if Grim want to go by polls, we'll need to discuss which poll we will agree to measure, otherwise we could agree to follow the Sportsbet odds (Sportsbet is an Aussie betting agency with markets open for the US election)).
