L.A.T.1961 Posted July 26 #3 Share Posted July 26 Security is being taken very seriously, I have seen mention of 75,000 troops bought in for the games. 2

Myles Posted July 28 #7 Share Posted July 28 I had planned to watch a;;of the Olympics but have changed my mind. When they included and defended using drag queens mocking the Last Supper, I was done. More woke division. I wouldn't care if they used drags queens for their show but to intentionally p*** off 2 billion Christians world wide is awful. I am an atheist. 2
Ell Posted July 29 #8 Share Posted July 29 I wonder that no participating athletes have withdrawn from that woke fest.

Burlesque is part of the culture, can can dancers have been around forever, and France is famous for it. Christians offend many as well. I don't think it's woke up not conform to Christianity.

Yes mate but it won’t be remembered for the right reasons. Athens, Beijing and London had great opening and closing ceremonies. Still it was very ambitious. Just didn’t work

The blue man apologised for upsetting people. There's a lot of Christians I suppose. It will really upset homophobic people as well, so there is quite an audience to offend. It wasn't supposed to be the last supper. I just thought it depicted France. It's stupid of right wingers to invoke the woke crap. It's got nothing to do with politics as much as they want to be outraged. Like I say, France has always been very liberal sexually. I wonder if the same people are largely offended by French culture in general?

We differ on this and I pass no judgment other than it was a crap opening ceremony with the Grim Reaper and what could be considered the pale rider outta the biblical relevations. How did these represent France? The blue man had his balls hanging out, 😂 in fact so did several others in the skit and I don’t think it has anything to do with homophobia. If we’re to be accepting of everyone’s sexuality then we wouldn’t accept Brad Pitt having his balls hanging out of his shorts in a Children friendly film anymore than we would Boy George during a concert. if my kids were younger I wouldn’t feel comfortable them watching the opening ceremony and wouldn’t feel comfortable explaining to them that France is very liberal about sex. The opening ceremony was about pushing limits and shocking with something new. It just didn’t work. Maybe some else could have made it work Peace

France itself offends people. Lol, so many jokes going begging about the blue man with blue balls and can can dancers but I digress. I think the decadence and the god of wine is very French but each to their own. I just think it's silly to equate it to woke politics mainly. American right wingers need to force their bloody political ideology on everything. It was as you say controversial. That's always going to create opinions.
