glorybebe Posted August 3 #1 Share Posted August 3 The chief of Williams Lake First Nation says the water build up behind the landslide that has dammed the Chilcotin River in British Columbia’s central Interior has nearly doubled in size. Chief Willie Sellars, who toured the slide site by helicopter Wednesday and Thursday, says the water is continuing to build on one side of the dam, while the other had “completely dried up” for about two kilometres. https://globalnews.ca/news/10677039/chilcotin-river-landslide-british-columbia/ This is so sad. All the poor fish. So scary what is going to rushing down when it breaks 1

glorybebe Posted August 3 Author #3 Share Posted August 3 It still hasn't breached, worried, the more water that builds up, the more pressure when it finally does go.
Doc Socks Junior Posted August 3 #4 Share Posted August 3 If you look upstream of Farwell Canyon, there's a spot where it looks like an old landslide was cut through by the river. Relatively common in channels like this. Remind me of Bridge of the Gods in the Columbia. Can get quite large temporary lakes. Also happens with volcanic eruptions and lava dams.

glorybebe Posted August 3 Author #6 Share Posted August 3 I was reading the banks are sand and limestone and with the lack of vegetation from the wild fires, the slide happened. They are worried that once the water breaks through. They might have more slides because of the banks being eroded
