Olympics Mocking Christianity? Why?!

Hello! I'm back! Took an hiatus! 

So...the Olympics threatened to block a man for having a skateboard with a depiction of Jesus on it. How is this not showing intolerance for Christianity?? And a mock drag queen last supper as well? Some are saying that is not the Last Supper..who believes that?

Surfboard, and ALL religious symbolism is banned because the Olympics is neutral.

Regarding the skateboard, I suspect that it is because France have fairly strict laws regarding religious symbols. They are simply following the laws of the host nation. 

Since the revolution France have been a very secular country.  This is not about suppressing religion, it's about giving all religions an even playing field.

That looked like a specific Jesus to me, the famous Rio de Janeiro monument, "Christ the Redeemer." That's a hard call as a religious gesture, given the monument's secular associations (I find myself thinking about The Girl  from Ipanema, God's work if there is a God, and as much an icon of Rio as any statue). I'd think that the stodgy religious interpretation would at worst disqualify the board, whereas the complaint seems to be that the competitor would have been disqualified. I don't know whether that's true, since news accounts differ.

@ReadTheGreatControversyEGW, I'll give you the one about the last supper parody. If the Olympic Charter prohibits religious propaganda (Rule 50) "in any Olympic venue," then it prohibts parody of religion in the opening ceremony.

On the other hand, if that really bothers you personally, then there's a lot of Paris you wouldn't enjoy.

Yes.  I love many of the competitions, but in todays world, they have added a lot of lame sports, IMO.  The golf is going great, the gymnastics has been amazing, especially the women’s gymnastics which I watched with my wife, and we both enjoyed it.

When I went there I turned on "The Bradford" because American tourists acted like such asses.

My sister and her husband only spoke Dutch when they weren't speaking French for the same reasons.

I have also been watching some of the Olympic Games, but I missed the part where Biles won her Gold medal 🥇.

My French has a quebecois accent (living a stone's throw from Quebec will do that ), and my wardrobe tends to LL Bean, so I generally pass. Even when I flub some obscure point of French grammar, I'll get "oh, you're from Quebec." Exception: the very best July 4th parties are in Paris. I think it's dress rehearsal for their own bash on the 14th. Anyway, an American in Paris on July 4th would be a fool not to advertise ).

And just a note for the OP, @ReadTheGreatControversyEGW. That Da Vinci's "The Last Supper" would be the theme of a transgender show is not that weird, and not even necessarily "anti-Christian." The painting itself has always (since the end of the 15th C when it was made) been associated with gender fluidity, even before there was such a term. Look at the figure on Jesus's right. That's a man, the disciple John.

I'm beginning to wonder if Christianity is mock religion that caught on. Then it became the thing it sought to mock.
