Instead of sending basic messages, what if we sent an AI capable of having a conversation with ET ?

Is artificial intelligence the great filter that makes advanced technical civilisations rare in the universe?

Scientists propose sending an AI into space to converse with aliens . . . .

If (some) UFO's are extraterrestrial, this is what they did. They sent their bots. (Still not a shred of real evidence though.)

So scientists think that aliens do exist and there are intelligent civilizations out there for wanting to send our AI to converse with them. I wouldn't expect anything less but they need to find the grants for these programs. I don't think they cost that much. Most money in our days go to fund wars and drugs so if something is out there then we can take advantage of AI and approve the funding for the programs.

Yes and it's obvious they think alien life is out there to want to send our AI to converse with them.

As someone who works in risk assessment with complex AI algorithms already embedded in the many processes where previously humans were involved, I must say: please proceed. And I am not talking about ChatGPT. I recently introduced a few thousents random variables into our AI my company works with, and the Bot has identified at least 10 major risk events that we otherwise would have left uncovered.

Similarly, AI could quickly learn to decipher a new language and communicate with aliens. However, the main concern would be regulating how much the AI is allowed to disclose and what kind of secrets it can reveal.

AI, our particular version of it anyhow, will be one of the greatest legacies and gifts that we will give to this universe.

A self-replicating, self-repairing, and almost eternal source of human knowledge will stand in our stead long after our species has moved on.

It’s not a matter of whether this should be contemplated, but rather, it would be irresponsible not to do so.

I think it's a good opportunity to weight the prons and cons before we decide to do it. It seems that the decision is already considered and it probably it has been decided that is what we need to do.

Seems like a bad idea since most of our AI ends up somehow becoming racist.

I ve lost you on the becoming racist part of your sentence. What do you mean by this? I ve never come across this argument before but can you explain how racism is related to AI.

It discriminates against those who are incapable of reading media news story for themselves .....

I propose being silent until we understand why the great silence is explained.
