So scientists think that aliens do exist and there are intelligent civilizations out there for wanting to send our AI to converse with them.

Two scientists who would like some funding for a project based on absolutely zero evidence.

Why don't we try to communicate with Bigfoot using AI?

I am sure you can find many more than two who will accept the funding for this sort of project. You know for sure aliens don't exist and they won't be able to communicate if they exist?

The article listed exactly two but I know you're not good with numbers.

I never said that. What exactly is your motivation for pretending I did say this?

Misrepresenting and misleading seems to be two of this clowns favourite things.

Someone should drag him away and throw him in with the Birdie.

What is an AI? How do you send it?

You tie it around the neck of a medium size dog.. and then you let it go.

With this kind of logic why fund SETI in the first place 'for a project based on zero evidence'. Just borrowing you own words. And why keep funding SETI when there are no results after so many years (most of SETI funding comes from private contributions but it doesn't change much).

Why fund anything to do with aloen life and exploration of planets?

Not at all and why would you think I did. Please explain if you can.

"You know for sure aliens don't exist and they won't be able to communicate if they exist?"

That seems like you are challenging what you thought @astrobeing said, which he didn't say.

Please don't call me with other names and I don't see how the argument made by astrobeing could be valid. The 'zero evidence' argument if it was to be applied then much of the research will stop and stop getting the funding.

I am sure he meant this when he said

Astrobeing is busy on another thread trying to prove one of his equations and that maths shows humans cannot estimate lengths and heights. It's better not to waste his time here.

So you think somehow that 'word salad talk' is associated mostly with the female population? If you do, then what I can I say?!

I like this idea. We send an a.i. to an alien civilization. The a.i. ends up acting like a sapient computer virus. They get a skynet with access to advanced technology. Which wipes them out and then it comes for us. Brilliant or a good movie idea.

Monkey curiosity  (and yes, we all know it killed the cat - which is why some have expressed caution about it).

Basically, we want to know whether there is anyone else in the next valley.   And (subject to the proviso above) it does not real harm.   No actual cats are killed in the process.

Obviously if the USAF told us all where they are keeping all their crashed alien spacecraft and their occupants, we wouldn't need to look for signs of alien life ;)    But the USAF seem to delight in watching others waste vast fortunes looking for something they already, secretly, have ..... :P
