Taylor Swift cancels gigs after ‘Islamic State sympathisers’ are arrested for planned terror attack.

Two people have been arrested and three of Taylor Swift’s concerts in Vienna were cancelled after police said they had disrupted an Islamist plot to attack the venue she was set to play at.

Many people in the small community of Ternitz had to be evacuated as one of the suspects, aged 19, was arrested. The other suspect was detained in Vienna.

Reports said local authorities acted after receiving a tip off from another country’s intelligence services. The teenager is said to have recently sworn allegiance to the Islamic State.

“With confirmation from government officials of a planned terrorist attack at Ernst Happel Stadium, we have no choice but to cancel the three scheduled shows for everyone’s safety,” Barracuda Music, an event organiser in the city, posted on Instagram on Wednesday evening.

She was being played at Stockport. I wonder if there is something in Taylor that triggers Muslims?

Absolutely everything about her?

A successful woman who dresses skimpy. Pure evil amongst the fundies.

So you mean Southport? Because, at the risk of repeating myself, no links to Islam.

The Austrian suspect was arrested along with a 17-year-old for allegedly planning an Islamist attack. A third person, also 17, was taken into custody late on Wednesday in connection with the investigation. Authorities said they had reason to believe one of the Swift concerts was a target.

Unconfirmed media reports said two other suspects were still at large, with a “Europe-wide” manhunt under way.

Austrian media said the 19-year-old had stolen the chemicals from his former employer, a local metalworking firm, and had built a bomb. The Kurier newspaper reported that he had planned to plough a car into the crowd outside the stadium and had also considered using machetes and knives.

I knew you would say that! But to admit he was born in Wales to Christian Rwandan parents would spoil the narrative. Do try to keep up.

And just who were they going to hurt and kill at a Taylor Swift concert?  Little girls is who.  Ass holes.

I wonder what Swift's financial loss is. Somewhere between six and twenty million euro?

BERLIN, Germany (AP) — The suspects in the foiled plot to attack Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna earlier this month sought to kill “tens of thousands” of fans before the CIA discovered intelligence that disrupted the planning and led to arrests, the agency’s deputy director said.

The CIA notified Austrian authorities of the scheme, which allegedly included links to the Islamic State group. The intelligence and subsequent arrests ultimately led to the cancellation of three sold-out Eras Tour shows, devastating fans — known as Swifties — who had traveled across the globe to see Swift in concert.

What a terribly written headline.

The attackers planned to kill as many as possible and there were tens of thousands of fans expected. That does not equate to "planned to kill tens of thousands".

Just more poor journalism from the usual suspects.

Whilst I agreed with the point you made earlier about not jumping to conclusions, you were ultimately wrong about the possible Islamic connection. And now, brave little soul that you are, you've opened yourself up to being wrong yet again. The headline merely states an assessment made by CIA Deputy Director David Cohen. Your issue should be with him, not with Israeli media should it not? He, too, is a Jew if that's any incentive.

Different attack, genius.

That was Germany, this is Austria.

My issue is with the headline because that isn't what Cohen said.

He said:

"They were plotting to kill a huge number — tens of thousands of people at this concert, including I am sure many Americans — and were quite advanced in this,”

The dashes indicate a separate statement.

1. They planned to kill a huge number and were quite advanced in this.

2. There were tens of thousands of people at this concert.

I've no issue with the source being Israeli, my issue is its poor journalism.

Why would it be? You planning to join and-then in the unfounded antisemitism claims?

You might want to re-read those rules you agreed to first.

Indeed it was, genius. The attack you referred to, happened in the UK, not Germany, not Austria, but in the UK. That makes us even.

I checked around and that very same headline appeared in other news reports. Some stated tens of thousands, others kept it to just thousands. I've also seen the quote from the CIA official presented without dashes. but will concur upon re-reading that it's a separate statement.

You took issue with the news source, implying that as 'usual suspects' its reporters had a record of shoddy journalism. They don't. I guessed, perhaps wrongly, that because the source is an Israeli one, you may have assumed the exaggerated headline was due to an anti-Islam bias — hence why I mentioned Cohen also being Jewish (implying that you might deem him biased as well). In hindsight I should have been clearer.

If in future you continue to have issues with other members and unfounded claims of antisemitism, don't project them onto me. I can assure you that if ever I make such an accusation against you, or anyone else for that matter, I will have the evidence to back it up.

If that's the post you're talking about you're even more wrong.

In this thread, I referred to Southport, which had no links to Islam.

More recently, I referred to the attack in Germany, encouraging people not to assume Islamist terrorism without facts to back it up. That one does look to be Islamist. It still isn't wrong to say we should wait for evidence.

I haven't once suggested Vienna wasn't Islamist terrorism.

You need to read what you're responding to more carefully.

The fact you think I would assume anyone Jewish is automatically biased against Islam says the world of your own prejudice, but nothing of mine.

Perhaps, but that would spoil the fun that arises from misunderstandings.

Had you been clear up front by providing an explanation to support your statement, my imagination would not have gone into overdrive and this little chit chat of ours would never have occurred. Now that you know how a small faux pas on your part can result in epic misunderstandings, I hope you'll keep it up because there's nothing Israelis like more than arguing.

Care to cite my allegations against anyone for being ANTISEMITIC?  When you want to cite my posts as a specific offense, have the decency to list a least one, hmm?  I rarely use that term.  I OFTEN denigrate people who obviously hate the State of Israel but that isn't about antisemitism.  That is about being an unrepentant Zionist who believes the descendents of Jacob/Israel have an inviolable right to live in that land that is today called Palestine.
