Woman who helped instigate riots now playing victim card (Telegraph)

Recommended Posts

A British businesswoman accused of being one of the first people to post a fake name for the Southport attacker says that it has “destroyed” her.

Bernadette Spofforth, 55, wrongly claimed on X, formerly Twitter, that the suspect in the killing of three girls outside a Taylor Swift dance class was an asylum seeker who had recently arrived in the UK by boat.

The false accusation, which was promoted across social media by far-Right accounts and Russian bots, has been blamed for sparking riots which spread across the country.

Mrs Spofforth, who lives in a million-pound farm house near Chester, has denied that she was the first to post the message, saying that she simply made the mistake of repeating it.

The woman is a well-known (in right wing circles) political activist in the UK with thousands of followers. She was hoping she could just press the button to start rioting and then smugly enjoy it from her comfortable home.

Just like Nigel Farage, she is using the excuse that she was just repeating information she was given- given by Andrew Tate who is currently detained in Romania on sex-trafficking charges amongst other criminal activities, and who could have nothing useful to say about what is happening in the UK.

I wouldn't be surprised if she gets banged up for this, and I'll also be surprised if Farage lasts 12 months as an MP.

Us Brits may have faults, but the majority aren't stupid. We know immigration policy is decided by the govt. We know attacking the immigrants isn't going to solve any problems. Once you have attacked the police, burned down the immigrant's accommodation, lawyers offices, food banks, libraries and schools- then what? All we are left with is rubble and the same social problems. But try explaining that to @Destination Unknown, @Noteverythingisaconspiracy @itsnotoutthere etc.

****ing Tate?

I know all about that kid twiddler.

He needs to be hung. I wish Mother Thatcher was still around. I'd take @Commander CMG and two Gurkha and run him down myself..

I hate that sonofabitch.

I use the same in my class - except "I" is "Interesting" and "H" is "helpful".

She stressed an opinion with the facts that were available at the time. And you can thank the British authorities for clouding the facts with their actions in trying to damage control the situation. The concept of free speech and assembly shouldn’t be attacked. Close down the social media platforms if they must but this vilification of peoples opinions is just too much like animal farm

When someone’s opinion instigates violence free speech is no longer free and they should pay for their comments accordingly. Thats why there are laws, and if there were none, I doubt either of us could imagine how bad things could get. The United States has its share of people who cause drama and then complain about the repercussions, a good example of that is Trump and Musk.

Who’s fault was that? The British establishment was pumping out murky half truths to manage peoples emotions - so she was easily influenced by what she read on social media. But all that is irrelevant since the British government is now fighting disinformation not only with its own disinformation BUT also draconian laws on free speech and assembly. Imagine jailing people for what they post yet you allow the social media platforms to continue business as usual.

This all reeks of big brother stuff and to be clear it’s very similar to laws in third would dictators like those in Iran, North Korea, Russia and Turkey which tells me that there’s ****ery at play

Trump and Musk still have their rights in place and people are free to voice their opinions as long as the government approves

But being honest you can’t tell people what they have to accept by force. Even if it’s the truth. People are morons and retards by nature but each and every one has a government working for them not against them

Nobody can be forced to lie. And the sad truth about it all is that others, including this woman and at least one member of this forum, continued to spread the lie because they wanted it to be true.

Replace list with -is it popular? As half the users (X) want to be influencers. They want fans. The truth is irrelevant.

For people who cannot access post 1, post 2 quotes that post 1 and the quote includes the link to what the woman wrote.
