Never had much truck with Prophets though. God told us not to, and we sort of decided that that there’s a line we won’t cross.
So yeah - following a prophet does have the air of heresy.
And if Catholics can smell it over our own hypocrisy… it has to be powerful.

The Quakers are the same way for the same reason. We have "Light Workers" but prophets are "disowned for disunity" right out of the gate.

Spoken like a true Catholic man! How many "heretics" did your pope kill off back in dem days?

Hey now, if the hood fits …

you name it, the Catholic authority has done it, invasion, murder, murder-made-to-look-like-suicide, orgies, selling of religious favours, carefully reinterpreted doctrine in order to benefit bishops/cardinals/popes, the Inquistions … we’ve done a lot of Bad Stuff.

I don't want you to agree with me about your church..

But anyways, if a person is indeed a true prophet of God with messages from God, it will never be to the good of any Christian to disregard the words of that prophet (as we've seen time and time again with God's people in the Bible). If it's a fake prophet, run. For sure. Lol. I currently do not know 1 single living prophet today that is a true prophet. I can't tell. They may look and sound very good but i need something higher than that to qualify them. So I don't subscribe to any but I will listen here or there to them. A person may appear as a great man or woman of God yet the spirit working in them is not of God and you can't tell that easily. Don't want to come into agreement with that spirit. I've had many years of dealing with Ellen White (since a child) and know that God has spoken to me thru her writings several times. To me, she's legit.

*people sometimes feel Adventists are crazy over Ellen White. No. Come to an SDA church and if you hear anyone mention the name Ellen White, you are very fortunate. Usually you won't hear her name or any mention of her, ever. Unless you're in a more conservative Adventist church then the Pastor maybe quote something from one of her books.

On a point arising, for the past few days I've been thinking that @Sir Wearer of Hats has confused his Millerites. The JW's promote a distinctive translation of the Bible, the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (NW or NWT when abbreviated). The SDA's do not have a distinctive denominational translation.

I think you’re right EightbBits, I may be doing Read a disservice thinking her church is a bunch of kooks who’ve reimagined the Bible to fit their own philosophy.

That's a fair 'nuff summary, it's just that Ellen & Co. don't need a new translation. They can reimagine the already existing ones in their own special way.
