PROOF: Judeo-Christian Bible Inspired of God

Recommended Posts

Unlike the bibles of other religions, there is EVIDENCE the Judeo-Christian Bible was divinely inspired by Jehovah. Not only does it contain almost 2,000 accurately fulfilled prophesies, but Bible writers had special information that was not discovered by scientists and explorers until centuries later. Below are two such examples.

1.  The Prophet Isaiah gave a viewpoint description of how earth appears from outer space and did it at a time in history when humans were earthbound.  Notice below.

"There is One who is dwelling above the CIRCLE of the earth, the dwellers in which are as grasshoppers, the One who is stretching out the heavens just as a fine gaze, who spread them out like a tent in which to dwell," (Isaiah 40:22)

Isaiah's viewpoint description--of a circular earth, when viewed from outer space--was not confirmed or proven until the 20th century, when astronauts were able to view earth from space.  In effect, Isaiah, who was earthbound at the time of his writing, gave a viewpoint description that was almost 3,000 years ahead of his time.

2.  Similarly, it was not until 1687 that Isaac Newton published his theory that gravitational forces are the explanation behind the earth's stability. More than 3,000 years before Newton's existence, under divine inspiration, Moses wrote the viewpoint description that, when viewed from outer space, earth appears to be hanging upon nothing (indicating invisible gravity), as follows:

"He [Jehovah God] is stretching out the north over the empty place, HANGING THE EARTH UPON NOTHING;" (Job 26:7)]

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

1.  How could Isaiah have known that the earth is circular when viewed from outerspace, considering that the writing of the book of Isaiah was completed in 732 B.C.E. —more than 2,700 years BEFORE astronauts in the 20th century confirmed that earth appears like a circle when viewed from outer space?

2. How did Moses know that the earth appears to hang upon nothing, indicating invisible gravity, considering that the book of Job was completed in 1473 B.C.E. and it wasn't until 1687 AD/CE that Isaac Newton published his theory about gravitational forces—3,160 years AFTER Moses wrote that the earth hangs in space with no visible means of support?

3. Where did Isaiah and Moses get this information?

You do realize that the Muslims say the same things about the Koran.

Talk is cheap, Alter.

You’re certainly right the Koran does say the same thing. I am I the only one who feels turned off by the OP, it reminds me of grade school when a teach had the key points written on a blackboard. Anyway have fun my friend, I am out of here I have never liked teachers who preach!:D

@Alter2Ego  Your proof is Not Proof.   The ancients knew the world was a sphere long before the romans compiled their mess of a bible, and the writings they used may have seemed ancient even to them but most of the old testament came from the Torah, so how could the bible be the only word of god.   Anyone studying the night sky can tell that we live on a mostly spherical planet, and people were sailing long before your type of judeo religion was created, sailors always used the stars to navigate and they knew the world was not flat.

The word which is translated as "circle" actually also means "horizon." It is related to the word for "circle."

https://biblehub.com/hebrew/2329.htm

That etymology pretty well answers "Discussion" Question #1 (scare quotes because by now everybody knows that discussion is not what the OP is here for). Isaiah or his informant went out into the desert. From the surface, the unobstructed horizon looks like a circle. Increase your altitude, perhaps by climbing a sand dune. The horizon still looks like a circle. Extrapolate: the horizon looks like a circle regardless of altitude.

More later maybe.

Them people did not have the concept of 'outer space'. Nor could they conceive of it.

Every sailor worth his salt knew the earth was round, or better, a globe. Certainly around the time the OT was penned down.

Eratosthenes even calculated the circumference of the earth and was not far of the real number.

Abramelin:

Eratosthenes (born in 276 BCE) showed up centuries after the Prophet Isaiah (born 760 BCE) wrote--by inspiration of Jehovah--that earth is circular.  The prophet Isaiah completed his inspired writings in 732 B.C.E. or 456 years before Erathosthenes was even born. At the time of Isaiah's writings, everybody else in existence did not know the truth about earth.

"Every sailor worth his salt knew the earth was round, or better, a globe" showed up more than 1,800 years after Erathosthenes.  In fact, it was not until the 16th century AD or 1,600 years after Christ came and left earth that Ferdinand Magellan and Juan Sebastián Elcano's circumnavigation (1519–1522) demonstrated Earth's sphericity during their explorations, driven by their greed for wealth and power.

Eratosthenes calculated (!) the circumference of the earth, because back then it was known the world was a globe. It wasn't even a question back then.

Why?

Sailors.

Why sailors? Because when sailors sailed in a convoy of ships, and one ship was very far ahead, the others behind that ship watched that 'sink' at the horizon. But as soon as the slower ships started to catch up with that ship that had 'sank', it suddenly emerged again.

Don't forget: after the Minoans and the Phoenicians, it were the ancestors of the present Greek - the Mycaenians - who dominated the Med.

These people were anything but stupid.

The huge problem here is that the Earth is not a circle.  If the Bible is inspired by an All-knowing God, why didn't this God tell his human representatives that the Earth is a sphere? Or, more correctly, an oblate spheroid?

Also, if the Earth is a mere circle, then how come in Isiah 11:12, your very same prophet speaks of the world having four corners?  Hadn't your God made up his mind about the shape of the world, or was your prophet of God's infallible word having a bet each way? 🤣

Alchopwn:

The earth is actually spherical, true.  But the "huge problem" for you is that although a sphere is not a two-dimensional solid like a circle, it can be thought of as a three-dimensional version of a circle.  Simply put, a circle is a roundtwo-dimensional solid and a sphere is is a round, three-dimensional solid.

What Is A Sphere?

What Is A Sphere? : A sphere is a three-dimensional geometric shape similar to a circle. The only major difference is that the circle is in the 2D plane and the sphere is in the 3D plane. It is defined as the locus of all the points in 3D. They are at an equal distance from a fixed point called the centre. The diameter is a line that passes through the centre of the sphere and touches both points of the sphere.

Prior to Isaiah, nobody else had correct information about earth.  You're relying on speculation about the Minoans and the Phoenicians and what they might have known.  You forgot to mention the Egyptians who existed during Isaiah's time.  In fact, the Egyptians existed centuries before Isaiah was born. They were known for their seamanship, and even they got it wrong when it came to earth's shape.  The Ancient Egyptians thought earth is a square with four corners, despite the fact they spent lots of time at sea.

"The Flat Earth

by Donald E. Simanek

Early Ideas About the Shape of the Earth.

The ancients had many novel ideas about the shape of the earth. The Babylonians thought the earth was hollow, to provide space for their underworld. The Egyptians thought the earth a square, (with four corners) with mountains at the edge supporting the vault of the sky."

They hired Phoenicians to do the real sailing on the seas.

So according to you, the Egyptians were never corrected by the Phoenicians (that they hired) so that the Egyptians kept thinking the earth is a square. Now, supposed you present evidence, within this thread, that the Phoenicians knew that the earth is circular prior to the 8th Century B.C.E. writings of the prophet Isaiah.

You haven't begun to show that. You haven't even shown that pseudo-Isaiah knew what the horizon would look like from above.

I helped you out a bit with that by establishing that the Hebrew word which pseudo-Isaiah used (meaning horizon) is derived from the Hebrew word for circle. That strongly suggests that the apparent shape of the unobstructed horizon was generally known among Hebrew speakers before Isaiah 40:22 was written. This is a plausible early achievement for desert dwellers, just as much as it is for sailors, those who live by some large bodies of water whether or not they are sailors, those who live above the timber line, Inuit people, ... really any culture some of whose members can view the unobstructed horizon some of the time.

Yeah, it's circular.

It is irrelevant when people and which people first found out the shape of the whole earth since pseudo-Isaiah makes no statement about that.

In reviewing my earlier post, I notice that I was unfair to Muslims in comparing their apologetics with yours. Yes, some of them pitch some of the same BS claims, but at least the better Muslim apologists know what their book says in the original language.

Is Jehovah evil?  The Bible claims that God/Jehovah is pleased by the blood sacrifice of innocent animals, allows for the keeping of slaves, the complete destruction of one’s enemies including women, children, and animals, and allows men to have as many wives as they can afford, but a woman can have only one husband at a time.

Do you wish you could own slaves and marry multiple husbands?

Apparently the OP doesn’t understand that the onus is on her to prove her claim, something of which she’s failed to do, especially as she’s claimed to have proof.

Apparently she doesn’t understand the definition of “proof” either.
