Hezbollah fired a barrage of rockets toward northern Israel on Sunday night, as Israeli forces remain on high alert for potential retaliation from Iran and its proxies following the assassination of a top Hamas leader last month.

Rocket fire toward Israel by Iran-backed Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon has become a near-daily occurrence since the outbreak of war in Gaza, as fears grow over the possibility of an Iranian attack that could escalate into a wider regional conflict.

The latest Hezbollah salvo was fired in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza and in retaliation for Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon, the militant group said in a statement. Cross-Border Violence Surges as Hezbollah and Israel Exchange Deadly Attacks

The escalating violence has led to warnings from Israel's Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, who cautioned the Shiite militia about provoking a war "that has never happened in the past."

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that two people were killed in the town of Taibe, believed to be members of Hezbollah, following an Israeli drone strike. The Israeli military confirmed targeting Hezbollah operatives in the area.

On Sunday, Israeli forces conducted additional strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, while numerous rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory.

So far, there have been no reports of injuries in Israel.

Radwan Force attack: Hezbollah capable of infiltrating across border, officials say

While the Israeli home front awaits a response from the Iranian-led axis, potentially involving an extreme barrage of rockets, various types of missiles, and drones, officers in the Northern Command warn that the threat of a ground infiltration into communities along the northern border remains.

According to the officers, contrary to popular belief, Hezbollah's Radwan Force is still capable of launching an organized attack on the border, including efforts to penetrate a community or military post.
