stevemagegod Posted August 12 #1 Share Posted August 12 This is shameful Bootlicking. The media is supposed to hold the government accountable. The only time media does its job is when a Republican is in charge. When a Democrat is in charge it’s nothing but kissing ass to the highest degree. 6
F3SS Posted August 12 #2 Share Posted August 12 The majority of the legacy media haven't held Democrats accountable for anything since 2008. It's all sunshine, rainbows and softball media spots for them. Not even in retrospect. Most famously imo being Obama's corny joke about the 1980s wanting their foreign policy back in 2012 when Romney was warning about Russia being the biggest geopolitical threat. Then Trump won and they haven't shut up about Russia since. 5
Sir Wearer of Hats Posted August 12 #3 Share Posted August 12 It’s really simple - the same thing happened to them that happened to education, policing etc - the accountants and their all important, all mighty “productivity spreadsheets” got involved. They discovered by analysing data that they got more viewers when they said certain things in certain ways. More viewers meant more revenue. So they focused not on “being the fifth estate and holding their feet to the fire” they switched to “holding the other guy’s feet to the fire” because whenever they held “our guy” accountable they lost viewers. add to that the concept of the “celebrity journalist” like Walter Concrete or whatshisface with the braces and the slouch that all the journalists aspired to being, and being told by the powers that be at their paper/radio/TV station that they’d make a name for themselves if they did x/y/z (all of which had been past the accountancy and legal departments) they’d become the next “name”. Thridly, people don”t want the truth, they want to feel right, or validated in their beliefs. You don’t make money by telling people the truth, you make money by keeping people watching and you keep people watching by telling them what they want to hear. 4

pellinore Posted August 12 #7 Share Posted August 12 I don't think it is particularly political (and this is not a political post), but if you think of the Left as being a bit: co-operation, social caring, inclusive, flower-powery, etc; and you think of the Right as being: authoritarian, guns, nationalist, jackboots, etc, then the Left does seem a bit more joyful than the Right. I'm not saying either view is right or wrong.

I'm not saying either view is right or wrong. Coming as someone from one of the more left places in the US I don't see it that way. I see extreme intolerance from the left. If you were to walk down the street where I live wearing a trump hat you would be physically assaulted I have no doubt at all. My favorite example of how it actually is between left and right is when someone shows up at a republican function wearing a biden shirt versus that same person wearing a trump shirt at a democratic function. at the democratic function they are berated, assaulted and forced to leave but at the republican function they are at worst looked at in amusement but usually offered a beer. There are video after videos of this on YouTube where a leftist thinks they are gong to make a "gotcha!!" video about the intolerance of the right but come away disillusioned about their counterparts on the other side. I know some stupid Canadian will insist on a link so... edit: The vast majority of the media most certainly leans left, your head would have to be up your nethers to not see that. In my area , some houses have Trump Signs , Some have, or had so to speak , Biden signs , nobody bothers with the other. To me there are a couple extreme right news and a couple of extreme left news , the rest are somewhere in the middle give or take.

Like Newsweek , i was seeing some stuff for the right , so i figured they were leaning that way , then in a few days i saw some stuff for the left from them.

So are you actually going to post a video where a leftist does this, or are you just going to provide a video of a Trump supporter wearing a Trump T-shirt to a Democrat rally and hope that nobody actually notices? Granted, there's little need to watch the dumb YouTube fodder pushed by those unable to read, but I wish y'all were a little smarter.

I have seen dozens of these videos over the years and mysteriously can not easily locate the older ones on YouTube. I'm sure not thanks to media bias or manipulation by big tech Regardless what I said happens happened in that video. Don't get hurt. Wear a trump shirt to a biden rally and no tolerance do the opposite and it's not an issue. Here is one where there is no comparison but still lefty finds love Edited August 12 by OverSword

Nah, you said: "There are video after videos of this on YouTube where a leftist thinks they are gong to make a "gotcha!!" video about the intolerance of the right but come away disillusioned about their counterparts on the other side." Then, you proceed to post (1) video by a Trump supporter. Not "video after videos of this on YouTube where a leftist" encounters this alleged double standard. 2

There are. Feel free to find them. YouTube has buried them a bit so it may take you a little while. The actual assertion about the videos is that the people on the right are more tolerant of their counterparts than those on the left. No need for me to troll around on YouTube. It's obvious enough to me that your assertion remains unsupported. In fact, your inability to find anything and willingness to provide a completely different scenario in putative support speaks poorly of your honesty as well as your recollection. 1 1

If so many believe that all the media is left wing , then you gotta ask yourselves, how did the Repubs let this happen?
