Preliminary magnitude-4.4 earthquake rocks South Pasadena (msn.com) It was initially reported as magnitude-4.7 with the quake's depth being 9km. There were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries but the shaking was felt throughout the region, where more than 12 million people live. Possible damage at Pasadena City Hall. Pasadena City Hall sustains broken pipe during 4.4 magnitude quake (msn.com) This quake follows a cluster of quakes this month. It was felt by many because it was shallow. Everybody was a little shook,’’ said Luis Alcala, a bartender at the Congregation Brewery and Cocina in Pasadena. The Los Angeles Times reported the seventh floor of its building near the airport swayed and lights flickered, and added that items fell from store shelves in other parts of the city and its surroundings. More than 277 aftershocks to the Aug. 6 quake, the largest in Southern California in three years, included two with a magnitude of 4 or greater. Record mini-quakes spark fear that major fault line in Cali could blow (msn.com) Texas is also experiencing a record number of quakes. West Texas was shaken by more than 100 earthquakes in a week. What's going on out there? (msn.com) West Texas gets its fair share of earthquakes, but the sheer magnitude of seismic activity and total number of events there late last month was staggering. Scurry County, which sits in the Permian Basin, was hit by 62 earthquakes during the week of July 22-28, according to the U.S. Geological Survey’s earthquake map. I think they need to figure out a better avenue for the disposal of the water. It's the deep injection disposal that's the problem, I believe.
