U.S. Senator suggests Ukraine attract F-16 pilots from the West

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham suggested that Ukraine invite retired Western F-16 pilots to fight. This would allow the aircraft to be used earlier, while Ukrainian pilots are being trained.

Russia will wail and bluster but as long as these pilots are no longer in the military, legally, Putin would have no "cause of action".

One possible problem would be how they were treated if one survived being shot down and captured.

The same way as other volunteers/mercenaries.

Thing is, russky POWs are being treated according international laws, while Ukrainian/volunteers/mercenaries POWs being treated harshly, torture not excluded.

Anyway, using foreign pilots would not be new, and sooner that will happen, the better.

Edit to add: with modern missiles/bombs jetfighters don't have to fly over enemy territory, hence chances of being captured are slim.
