Grim Reaper 6 Posted August 14 #1 Share Posted August 14 New research led by the University of Bath in the UK suggests that CBD products, despite their popularity as an alternative pain treatment, do not alleviate chronic pain and may be both a financial drain and a health risk. CBD, or cannabidiol, is a chemical naturally found in the cannabis plant and is commonly sold in various forms such as oils, tinctures, vapes, topical creams, edibles like gummy bears, and soft drinks, available in stores and online.. https://scitechdaily.com/a-waste-of-money-new-study-reveals-that-cbd-is-ineffective-for-pain-relief/ 2
Alchopwn Posted August 14 #2 Share Posted August 14 This sounds like a Tory funded attempt to roll back the inevitable decriminalization of cannabis. They must object to having their illegal market prices interfered with by legal cannabis products.

That's interesting, I find it does wonders for relaxing my muscles and stopping back pain caused by tension and awkward posture.

I had three fractured vertebrae in my lower back, I have had a number of surgeries with only slight relief. The only thing that helps is narcotics, and I only use them when I can’t get out of bed. I have one surgery option left, and that is spinal fusion and I am considering it as we speak. So, like I said the strongest CDBs don’t help me at all, such is life.

Opiates do not alleviate chronic pain but I know a lot of people who got rid of the opiates and live more comfortably with their chronic pain by using CBD and THC. They are out of bed a lot more, they can function more normally and they don't loose their minds as quickly as with opiates.
+OverSword Posted August 14 #7 Share Posted August 14 I know a few people that swear by CBD oil as helpful for their chronic pain.

Opiates are great for breaking a cycle of pain, in my situation CBD / THC does nothing for my pain. Only opiates help me when I can’t get out of bed, the trick to using opiates is to not use them on a regular basis. I never use them, for more than four consecutive days in a row and then I don’t use them again until the cycle of pain increases to a point where I can’t function again. This way there is no side effects or addiction. I know everyone is different and if CBD works that great, but I have tried the strongest edibles they sell with no major pain relief.

My mother and aunt were put on opiates and told to take them daily, they built up a tolerance so that the opiates did nothing except keep their mind messed up or even gone. Most doctors in the U.S. are not trained to treat patients, they are trained to make money for the pharmacuetical companies. Several people I know with chronic pain do not get any relief from opiates, but do get relief from smoking pot or taking CBD oil, maybe it is because the doctors prescribe opiates incorrectly. It sounds like you have a good doctor that knows how opiates work. I even have a nephew who is addicted to opiates because of a work accident. He has gotten clean but relapsed. Currently he is working with a doctor at a methadone clinic. So he is not clean, but at least he is not stealing someone's drugs or buying meth on the street. Even in the olden days when Aurther Conan Doyle was alive people knew what opium did to people, he describes it in one of his Sherlock Holmes books. When I was prescribed *spam filter* for chronic pain years ago, it did help. I decided to stop them after over 10 years because it gave me more problems than I already had.

I have a very good doctor, however I also learned the hard way. Years ago, I made the mistake of listening to a screwed up doctor who hard me taking them daily. I ended up going into withdrawal, so I experimented with the process I currently use and it worked. But I realize my story is not the norm unfortunately.
