I’ve told this before…but this time it’s on topic! :P   I was told 5 yr. & 7mo. ago.. that I would live  4 mo. at the least, and 2 yr. at the most!

I dunno why…but it didn’t really scare me at the time… I didn’t believe it, or not believe it ..just kept going.    I think maybe it’s my love of all life that helps me live?   ✌️

 Pardon me please… want to add a correction/addition :)   I was told 6 yr. & 7 mo. ago.

Like others have said, seems my biggest concern is how my wife would feel..and get along, If I shook off this cortal moil ..first.

Sorry to hear about all the problems, sounds like a problem with the computer. Getting rid of it was certainly the best bet, I am not a Ford guy.

I don't like american cars and Ford has had it's problems, but they also have fixed a lot of stuff (fixing by discontinuing chronically defective models for one thing) but if I had to buy an american car I would choose a ford or an electric car from one of the american based companies, Because of how they handled the government handouts/bailouts.   They refused to participate, their CEO used his salary to get the company back on track, Tesla took the money but paid it back in 2 years.  The others took the money and no peep has been heard about it from them since.  AND Chevey has a lot of defects in their pickup trucks including very uncomforatble seats.

I think it's pretty clear...more of us are afraid of owning a newer model Ford than death 😆

My 2017 F-150 was a crap box even with the Boss package and before I let our Mexicans abuse it as a crew truck.

Which is why my 2000 Explorer was dragged out of the garage and put back together.

The old F-100's weren't bad in their day and you still see a few around now over here, also the Ford Bronco's. I changed over to Toyota utes years ago because of the reliability and good fuel economy.

Let's not derail again. I'll take this to the proper thread.

We do not experience the eternal personality in us, which is never born and never dies, which has always existed like God and which is infinite and does not depend on the universe and matter. And when we are born on earth, a mortal shell of the body and thinking mind is put on us, which limits us and convinces us of our mortality and does not allow us to experience ourselves as eternal, and from this our suffering and fear of illness and death.

A spiritual person feels as if he were standing above the body and physical head
and not as we feel ourselves as "consciousness in the body". Therefore, a spiritual person clearly understands that the body is a shell, like clothing for us (we do not consider clothing to be our Self), therefore spiritual people are not afraid, they feel that they are eternal and the body is like clothing. For us, our body and mind are components of our Self because we do not feel the eternal parts of ourselves.

Clinging to the body and its needs, a person works for this body and its needs for most of his life,to satisfy his earthly feelings and joys, and his eternal personality remains unknown and the baton passes to the next life.

The meaning of a person's life on earth is in the discovery of his spirit and soul, this is the true person, earthly personalities are transient, they only serve to discover these eternal two. Therefore, when a person dies, the eternal spirit will again and again bring a person to earth until the spirit and soul are discovered on earth in all beings.

I don't think that is true for everyone.  Even as a very young child I knew I was just a visitor here.   So did my brother, I don't think we are so unique.   Often people forget after they get to be 6 or 7, but most children know when they are very young that we are eternal beings visiting here.  If you ever get to the point where you need proof you lose that knowing, there is no way to prove many things from the perspective of a human on planet earth.   That is by design.  As for "a spiritual person feeling" anything, we are ALL spiritual and you are judging others based on your definition of "spiritual".   It is no one's business what others do with this life, sometimes the kindest people are the ones that are villified by judgmental people who think everyone should act and do as they do or they will not.... (fill in the blank).   Each of us gives meaning to our lives based on why we are here experiencing it, you don't get to determine anyone else's meaning.

That is an interesting article.   I found out I was not afraid of death, but I am afraid of pain.   The interesting thing I found in that article was that people who are afraid to die are less resilient about loved one's deaths.

people are afraid of pain. believing in god makes it easier.

You would think that but it is not true.   Your attitude about life without a belief in god can make fear of dying easier but nothing makes fear of pain easier.   It is ok if you believe in a god, but it is not required in order to be ok being human on planet earth.

Absolute rubbish. I am not afraid of pain, and God has no place in my life. I could inflict a level of pain on anyone and trust me their belief in God would not make the pain easier on them, they wouldn't even have the ability to think about their imaginary friend.

Belief in god and an afterlife might make dying less scary but I don't know why you think it makes pain easier? Religion has probably caused more pain and suffering than anything else on earth.

I got taken to hospital once (quite a while back now) with a sudden onset illness. Did the usual male thing, wait for hours because you never know, it might go away lol. Was agonising.

Got to hospital with septic shock, vital signs going south fast and organs starting to shut down. I could tell the staff were more than a little concerned. Was a strange thing. I could hear and understand what they were saying and asking, yet no matter how I tried, I couldn't put an intelligible word together. People seemed to be gradually getting further away and their voices more distant. Weird experience. I remember thinking before I went out to it completely well, looks like this is it, won't be kicking in the morning at this rate. I really didn't expect to be but it didn't bother me in the slightest, I was quite happy to go. Felt quite a sadness for my wife and family though.

Woke up 3 or 4 days later in a different hospital, seems they evacuated me to a bigger one with better facilities and specialists. Took quite a while for full recovery. Never at any stage did I have a religious thought and for anyone I know well enough to care, religion isn't a thing, so no prayers either. A genuine atheist I guess.

I tend to agree. I think it most likely the time after our allotted span will be same as the time before it. Literally nothing to be afraid of.

Consciousness is the basis of existence, so no one can kill consciousness. Only the body and a couple of other shells are mortal, but the spirit and soul are eternal, so man is eternal, just like God. The mind and body are mortal, and they deceive man by convincing him of mortality, but people do not feel the eternal personality within themselves.

If man realized his eternal personality, he would say that he never died or was born, that he is a Supracosmic Being that surpasses the size of the universe. But the body and mind limit you to the size of an earthly being.
