docyabut2 Posted September 1 #5 Share Posted September 1 (edited) https://www.foxweather.com/earth-space/meteorite-fireball-meteor-north-carolina-appalachia It wasn't a bird or a plane spotted by people in nearly a dozen states just after 1 a.m. on Friday. Instead, it was a fireball that both illuminated the sky and created the sound of a sonic boom. Edited September 1 by docyabut2

The issue isn't where the noise is coming from, it;s what is causing it. If it is speaker noise then it is probably generated by electrical interference. Electrical interference in a complex spacecraft is not a good thing. 4 3

Fireballs are just bright meteors, generated by either very small natural particles or man-made debris burning up in the atmosphere. They are happening all the time. They are brief events. There is no way that it could generate this.

+and-then Posted September 2 #12 Share Posted September 2 That sound is very similar to the cryogen pump noise one hears inside the MRI scan room. NOT the sound of the machine scanning but the sound one hears when the machine is empty and the routine cryo pump is doing its job.

It kick Boeing in the gut, maybe it will sort out some internal issues on their program management. Not sure about the approach of getting a bullseyes at the first shot for NASA is the good way to go. It look awesome when you nail it on the first time but it's time consuming and if you fail somewhat, the expectation is so high that it hurt even more. Space x approach of going in increment is interesting on that matter because expectation is kinda low and people are satisfied even if it blow five time in a row. It can turn into a bunch of funny jokes but damn if they end nailing it is even more satisfying. It's a philosophical clash between the two options... hoping that they will sort out their problems because having only one option suck a lot. NCC1701 Posted September 5 #16 Share Posted September 5 Acoustic feedback. You get a similar sounds when you hold two connected mobile phones close to each other. Or call your mobile from your landline and hold the speaker to the microphone vise versa.
