esoteric_toad Posted September 2 #4 Share Posted September 2 Well we know the Russians had nothing to do with it. It didn't have any tea or fall off a high rise balcony.

Still Waters Posted September 4 #8 Share Posted September 4 Beluga whale alleged to be Russian ‘spy’ was shot, animal rights groups say Animal rights groups have said that gunfire killed a beluga whale that rose to fame in Norway after its unusual harness sparked suspicions the creature was trained by Russia as a spy. The organisations Noah and One Whale said they had filed a complaint with Norwegian police asking them to open a criminal investigation. https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/sep/04/beluga-whale-alleged-to-be-russian-spy-was-shot-animal-rights-groups-say
+OverSword Posted September 5 #9 Share Posted September 5 Quote A group of veterinarians are saying the whale was shot to death. On Wednesday, two animal-rights organizations, OneWhale and NOAH, announced that they'd filed a police report with local authorities and Norway's national authority on environmental crimes. In the report, they raised the possibility of "intentional human-inflicted injury," their statement said. "When I saw his body and the multiple injuries, I immediately knew he had been killed by gunshots," Regina Haug, the founder of OneWhale, which had been involved in the protection of Hvaldimir, said in the statement. "I even saw a bullet lodged in his body," she continued. "There is no question that this kind, gentle animal was senselessly murdered." Still Waters Posted Monday at 03:22 PM #11 Share Posted Monday at 03:22 PM Whale alleged to be Russian ‘spy’ died after stick became lodged in its mouth, say police Norwegian police had opened an investigation after two animal rights groups filed a complaint into the death of the animal, alleging it had been shot. However, police for the south-west district said in a statement on Monday that an autopsy had pointed to a different cause of death. A stick measuring 35cm (14in) in length and 3cm in width had become stuck in the whale’s mouth, they said. Police added: “The autopsy showed that its stomach was empty. In addition, most organs had broken down. There is nothing in the investigations that have been carried out to establish that it is human activity that has directly led to Hvaldimir’s death.” As a result, police would not investigate further, they added. https://www.theguardian.com/world/article/2024/sep/09/beluga-whale-hvaldimir-alleged-russian-spy-died-stick-lodged-mouth-say-police
