On first glance it seems far-fetched – indeed, ABC News moderator David Muir quickly intervened to clarify there was no credible evidence to back the assertion. But for those tuned into US politics, it’s not new. In fact, the claim had already been gathering momentum for some time, fuelled by Right-wing figures from vice-presidential candidate JD Vance and Senator Ted Cruz to billionaire Trump fan Elon Musk, with some insisting they had “proof”.

One might assume, then, that it had come from a credible source, even if it were disputed. But you’d be wrong. Instead, it appears to have originated from a single Facebook post from a resident in the rust-belt city of Springfield, Ohio.

What a coincidence that you posted this, no rational person was going to take trump, vances or a gaggle of loons in red caps braying about its true because they say so word on it.

What this really is all about is a smoke and mirrors derailing attempt by desperate maga who cant handle just how badly harris stomped trump.

Keep in mind if maga can find one hobo who says he killed and ate a lake loon then they will never let go that Haitian migrants are eating peoples pets.

Pretty much every human has a phone with cam and video, will they present any supporting evidence to support claims or just loons braying about it?

It is stunning you would have to post this, nevertheless thanks for the information. At this point, there is no credibility as far as trump is concerned, for me.

We can't get the Springfield News-Sun in the UK due to GDPR rules, but I found this: Ohio city with Haitian migrant influx thrust into political spotlight | PBS News which suggests it is not true.

(Btw, is this the Springfield where they film The Simpsons?)

That video is from a city council meeting on 8/27.   While there is no way to verify if it is true or not, I suspect the guy wouldn't be mentioning it if it weren't somewhat true.  Haitians are poor and they do kill chickens, goats, etc in their native country so it isn't a stretch to think they may not attempt the same here if they are impoverished.  I think the bigger point is that the town is being clearly over run with migrants who come from a completely different culture than our own.  It is like oil and water.

Once again, I'm sure if we imported the migrants to Martha's Vineyard attitudes would change.

I still see this being used to try to cover one of coutless humiliating blunders and gaffs brayed out by trump when he went down in flames during the debate harris won.

Its got all the typical fun trump/ maga elements, racism,  fear mongering, blaming migrants, embellings and outright lying. So ridiculous that only the most devoted trump subjects buy it.

If a guy came into the paranormal forum and posted a video of some unknown spewing he saw a truck full of 100 bigfoot and the driver was eating the bigfeet how many would ask for actual proof to support claims not an outlandish story,

Maga are preseting stories, anecdotes no real proof of claims, hoping it takes focus off yet another trump epic failure.

1. There is no such thing as 'somewhat true'. It is either true or it isn't. Apart from one photo of someone carrying a dead duck, with no back story except it was in another place and another time as @Sherapy says, there is no evidence. I find that incredible in a time of smart phones, cctv and Ring doorbells.

2.Yeah, it seems 1 in 5 of the population are migrants who suddenly arrived, that is a lot.

3. Immigrants everywhere end up in poor areas- because they are poor. In the UK they end up in the poorer areas of the poorest cities, not Mayfair or Windsor.
