pellinore Posted September 18 #1 Share Posted September 18 (edited) Legal immigration is many times more of a problem than illegal immigration via the English Channel - on average around 500,000 immigrants a year are welcomed by the UK. As we still have acute staff shortages in care, hospitality, agriculture and other vital industries (about 800,000), the only way we can reduce immigration is to rejoin freedom of movement. Former Tory prime minister Sir John Major has issued a devastating verdict on Brexit and described Rishi Sunak’s government as “unconservative” and “un-British” in the way it tried to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda. Speaking to the BBC’s Amol Rajan, Sir John said he agreed with former Labour prime minister Sir Tony Blair that far from reducing immigration as promised by Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and others, it had in fact increased immigration and replaced Europeans with more people from other parts of the world. Ozymandias Posted September 18 #2 Share Posted September 18 The gammons are destroying the UK. The damage being done by Brexit will continue to be comprehended for years to come and is increasingly irreversible, or nigh on so. The ones who are not personally affected by it are sticking their heads in the sand and pretending it isn't happening. The ones who are being affected have realised their mistake and changed their minds about it. In this situation, time will be the great teller of truth.
